Helpful Information For You Updated 03/30/2012

We rented a few years ago from National at MCO and dropped off in Cocoa Beach. We're probably going to do it again this year, because I can get the one way rental from National cheaper than I can from Budget or Thrifty (even with the cost of a cab factored in...)

I just don't remember seeing the National place last year when we were in Cocoa Beach! We had rented from Thrifty, but were trying to remember where the National office was, just for comparison's sake as far as proximity to the actual port. Has it moved in the past couple of years?

Also, any idea of the going rate for a cab from the office to the port? I can call in the morning, but thought someone here might know.

National is located in Cocoa Beach --go to the first page of this thread and it will give you all the information on the rental cars including National - they are close to Doubletree - they do not have a shuttle and the cab ride to the port is about $20.00 or so now (OUCH).
Let me know how you make out ok?
Always

Hello girlfriend,
I was so sick of water that I didn't need to drink any since it seems as I stayed soaked :rotfl2: - I threated my plants that if they so much as started wiltering before 3 days, I would pull them out and stomp them.:lmao:

OK now that the fusteration is over - there was quite a great deal of damage throughout all the county - 2 of my nephews and sister's homes got some flood water, Norm and I were on the roll Thursday due to the fact we had panic calls from some curisers but only had to go out once and help a couple who had a car problem and come to find out, the cable had somehow come off their battery - Norm got it fixed in 2 seconds flat and off we/they went.

In all of my 72 years of life, never ever experienced anything like Fay - my son John in Jacksonville, had a lot of damage at his home but nothing he couldn't get fixed or replaced.

I feel so sad for so many that loss everything and had to find other places to stay. We still have water in a number of places BUT WE FINALLY GOT SUN ALL DAY TODAY. :worship: :worship: :worship:
Tia the 4 legged ''child'' was tired of walking in wind and rain just to do her business - she has been walking around all day with a smile.

Thanks for all the prayers, thanks for all the blessings we all appreciated the kindness and thoughtfulness.
Blessings Always
2 DRIED OUT conch :)

YOWZA! Forget that, then! $20.00 is highway robbery! I Mapquested it, and it was less than 4 miles... I need to be a cab driver in Cocoa Beach!!

My aunt/uncle and my parents are going to be down there staying at the Country Inn and Suites the night before we cruise, I might get one of them to shuttle us from the National office to save some dough, or I might just stick with Thrifty.

I just love renting from National at MCO...the Emerald Aisle is so nice and speedy compared to the shuttling over to Thrifty, even with their Blue Chip program. I guess I have to weigh the pros and cons. :confused3

Thanks again for your help, you are so awesome for this thread and all the info in it! I love you on CruiseCritic, too!

Unfortunately when the gas prices went up so did everything else - National does not have or offer a shuttle as everyone else does - if you decide to go through Thrifty, when you turn it in ask to speak to Stephanie Bailey - she is one of the managers and awesome with her customers.
If I can help further, let me know.

SO happy to hear you and Norm are safe and sound, if not a little "soggy"! ;)

Hopefully that's the last of the hurricanes for you! Thanks again for all your help with this thread! We hope to cruise again for our 25th anniversary coming up in two years! :cool1:

Hi, Shirley.

Does the Country Inn & Suites offer discounted KSC tickets? If not, is there somewhere you'd recommend getting them from? I see that the Radisson has them for their guests, but we aren't staying there. We'd like to do KSC along w/one of the tours, but it priced out to $170+ for 2 adults & 1 child. Ouch. :scared1:

Thanks!
Rhonda

Hi Shirley! I've been reading all your stuff about Key West...thanks so much! It's been a wealth of info. I do have a question about the electric cars. We are to be in port for about 7 hrs. I wanted a quote for about 6 hrs and was told appx $160!!?!? That seems crazy! Can anyone else give me an idea of how much they paid? At that rate I can rent a car for a week! Thanks for any info!

Marie

Shirley, unfortunately that link doesn't work - it takes you to a notice saying the page cannot be found.

Wanted to let you know Renata contacted me and I was quoted almost half of what I was originally quoted! Thank you so much Shirley. I have to talk to DH and then we will probably reserve it! Now I only have to worry about parking the thing! lol!

I know this has been asked (probably by me) and answered, but please bear with me. I have reservations at the Residence Inn which I made in February. At that time, the shuttle to the port was $6 pp round trip and parking was free. I checked my reservation on-line yesterday, and it does not mention the shuttle or the free parking. Do you know if it is still offered? If so, do you request the shuttle when you check-in, or how does that work?

Thanks for all you do keeping the DIS-ers informed! :thumbsup2

Leslie

Leslie - I understand Sarah contacted you directly but I am posting her note so if any others have questions.

Good morning. I replied directly to the guest on that question!
If you want to post anything for us you can mention that Parking is always free in our lot when they stay with us! When they check in they just need to let us know that they want to take the shuttle and we will set that up for them. We use Cocoa Beach Shuttle and the guests pays them directly $6.00 per person round trip. It's very simple and it works really smoothly!

Thanks again Shirley!

Hey everyone!
My friend plans to rent a vehicle from Enterprize Car Rentals at Cocoa Beach after his cruise. Does anyone know if they have shuttles to & from the port? Or should he carry cash for a cab?
Thanks for all your help and great suggestions.

Enterprize does have shuttles to and from the port and if a cab is used, yep you do need that good ol' America dollar that has shrunk in size :lmao:

Hope this will help

I can't remember which thread I saw it on, but I read somewhere that the Enterprise location is now where Hertz used to be located near port canaveral. Which I believe is closer that where Enterprise used to be. I am renting from Enterprise also. It beat the other companies by $30-$40 each way!
