Helpful Information For You Updated 03/30/2012

I can't remember which thread I saw it on, but I read somewhere that the Enterprise location is now where Hertz used to be located near port canaveral. Which I believe is closer that where Enterprise used to be. I am renting from Enterprise also. It beat the other companies by $30-$40 each way![/QUOTE]

OK Hertz is now is between the CI&S and RI - they use to have their location where Enterprise is now located. Last year, Enterprise which was located in Merritt Island, opened up a new office here in Cape Canaveral so basically we now have Hertz, Budget, Thrifty/Dollar, Avis and Enterprise here in Cape Canaveral. Stephanie with Thrifty/Dollar is awesome to work with - Avis offers to beat anyone's price etc. All have shuttles except National that is located down South in Cocoa Beach.

These are the only choices here

Time to plan our November cruise stop in Key West. Shirley, I know you are the expert!

Do you, perchance, have a new link to the electric car rental place? As often happens over time, the original link has died.

Thanks!
Linda

Hey Shirley!

We'll be on the October 4 sailing. I have a couple of questions.

First, is there a good doughnut shop close to the Radisson? We ate there last year, but want something quick this year.

Second, are there any good coupons for the Old Towne Trolley or Conch Train tour right now? I've already been, but my parents would really enjoy it.

Thanks for all you do!
Ginger

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but yesterday was our yearly "conch reunion" in St Petersburg at DeSota Park and there were over 900 "conchs" that got together and it was like old home week- There were from the oldest from the age of 96 who was so spy, she could still move those hips to 3 generations all together in one place. Everyone knew everyone or we were related down the line. What a great time was had by all.

Anyhow the answer to your question is that they do have a Burger King right North of the Radisson and a McDonald's right across the street - to get to GREAT donuts which is Dunkin' Donuts, you have to go about a mile or so South on A1A - in fact is right in front of Publix.

Here is a link that may help you also know that there is a Chamber of Commerce right there at Mallory Square that could have coupons to stuff I can't get hold of.

Shirley...first of all, thank you SO much for the plethora of information that you have posted here. I've been living on these boards for about a year now (DH says I'm obsessed).

We get off the boat at about 8:30 am on debarkation day. I have our car rental scheduled for 11:00 am because I did not want to pay for a full day's rental for just a couple of hours. I had originally planned to take the shuttle to Budget (where we are picking up our rental) and then walk to the manatee park for an hour or so. My question is: do you (or anyone) know if we can leave our luggage at Budget while we make this little excursion? I COMPLETELY forgot about all of the baggage that we will have when leaving the boat.

I am not sure that Pat will allow you to leave your luggage for that little while since they may have a problem with feeling responsible for the luggage especially if something ends up missing etc. Let me check with Pat tomorrow and will let you know what she has to say - I have to call her since I don't have her email address.
anyhow will let you know as soon as I find out.

Hi Shirley---what is Milligans?

Hi Shirley---what is Milligans?

Milligan's is a new restaurant that is opening up at the port and the way it is built, you see all the ships in port and also you can see them leave and they pass right in front of the restaurant. It has 2 tiki bars and it really looks so inviting - my only complaint was that I contacted the owner 2 or 3 months ago requesting about an aproximate date they would be opening so that I could put it on the board about their place I thought I would anyhow because it looks like the old restaurant that was there many years ago and the food and scenery was excellent and I really was sorry to see it close.
I really believe it is going to give all the other restaurants a run for their monies for a number of reasons.
I know Norm and I are going to try it, but not on opening night:scared1:
Take care and know I luv ya
just me

just for THAT reason I wouldn't/won't patronize them  how rude! turn down free advertising....sorry, but to treat someone like that....they don't deserve my business OR hard earned money. :snooty:

I completely agree.......

Whether they like it or not, they did get free advertising...... their problem is, it's the wrong kind...... negative.

I just don't understand how a business owner (I'm one too) would pass up the opportunity to get their place of business in front of, potentially, over 190,000 customers (the current number of registered DIS users). I sure wish I could advertise to that many potential clients for free.

Did they give any timeline of when new changes will occur? Is the Best Western really that bad? I booked there for our upcoming cruise in January and am getting a little nervous. I HATE hotels as it is, I'm just hoping this one is clean:confused: I have a friend that stayed there and said it wasn't bad.

OMG no the Best Western is a very nice place to stay and they are close to so many things - they had a change in management and as Bruce said he was there for 8 years or more, was transfered somewhere else, but missed the beach so he decided to come back. He just stopped by to introduce himself which I thought was super nice and that he would be more than happy to help anyone that had any questions or problems, to make sure to come to him.

NOW SECOND and this is VERY IMPORTANT OK?
I realized that I was very harsh on Rhonda from Milligan's but Norm and I did ride by there today and it is VERY BEAUTIFUL AND VERY INVITING. I did go in today and spoke with the GM and he seemed to be very nice - I didn't tell him about the boards etc, I just wanted to see what it looked like and I really believe you are going to like it.
I did get one of their paper menus and the food is very reasonable and appears its going to be good food.
Their website is www.millikensreef.com - now the website should be ready to show all their goodies by next week. Just keep checking OK?
Now I thought they were opening today, but they were doing all their hiring today and opening is set for next week. Keep checking their website for the opening date/
Give it a chance and just remember there are some folks that finds it hard to believe there are folks that do things without expecting anything in return. Its not how the journey begins, but who we are when the journey ends
HUGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
