Helpful Information For You Updated 03/30/2012

UPDATE AS OF 06/30/2008
Speeding tickets will jump up to from over $100.00 to at least $200.00 starting July 01, 2008 here in the State of Florida. The Beachline (Hwy 528) will be heavied patroled especially during this holiday. Now if believe parking at the port is high, rooms are high? Guess what I believe paying and getting something for it is worth it. A ticket isn't so slow down, follow the speed limit or you won't have the extras monies you have been saving for that great cruise or a trip over here to the beach.
Besides that, the live you save just might be yours and your family or maybe mine and my loved ones.
Always
Shirley

UPDATE 06/27/2008

Country Inn and Suites
Website: http://www.countryinns.com/capecanaveralfl

The CI&S is now offering a free continental breakfast that includes sausage, bacon, eggs, waffles, cereral, juice, milk and coffee etc.
They also now have their own shuttles to the port and no longer need to depend on another shuttle service and one of them is brand new :-)

Offers rates with park and cruise but it’s been confirmed that you can leave your car without paying for a park and cruise rate.
Kelly Powell is your GM there and a sweetie to work with if you have any issues, questions etc.
Another place which is high on my recommendation list
UPDATE 06/27/2008
They have a great summer package that includes a $50.00 gas gift certificate.
Their shuttles are now being offered on Friday and Saturday for guest that need to go to different places in Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach at no charge,

I made ressies for 2 nights before our cruise. Customer service rep Laura couldn't have been nicer on the phone. She gave me a great AAA rate for the 2 nights, upgraded us since we're goldpoints members and said we could add the shuttle for $8/person and I could sign up for that when we arrived. At first, I thought $32 was high at first but that is for both trips to and from the ship and to leave our vehicle on property.

Shirley, thank you so much for all your helpful information. We used you once for a stateroom gift on a DCL cruise several years ago and were very happy with it. I just read through your first post on this thread and was amazed by how much helpful information you have compiled. A sincere thanks for all that you have done and continue to do to help all of us.:thumbsup2

It is always so great when you come into a strange town to know that it has all been checked out for you and at least you have choices as to where to go, what to do, etc.
It has been my sincere pleasure.
Always
Shirley

Since you were so helpful to me while I was planning our cruise, and I didn't want these pictures to get lost, so I'll post them here.

We stayed at the CI&S the night before our cruise and we had a 'family suite'.....

Very nice room:

There was a queen bed for the parents, and then in a doorless room, a twin bed and bunk beds:

We didn't use the pool but did eat breakfast there. Cereal, PopTarts, myo waffles, bagels, muffins, eggs, sausage/bacon, toast, drinks, etc.... Very nice breakfast. Altho, we ate well here, we weren't hungry for the 'boarding lunch' :worried:

Thanks so much for taking the time to post these pictures - this way folks have ideas as to what rooms etc look like at different places. Excellent idea and if more folks would take the time to post different places, I sure would appreciate it. My son Michael decided to stay at the CI&S several weeks ago with his daughter and LOVED the idea he had privaticy and so did his 16 yr old daughter - we had company the weekend he was here so I suggested he go to CI&S and couldn't say enough good about it. He is one of my ''tester'' of different places and he will share the truth with me so it works for everyone.
Anyhow thanks again for sharing and it was very thoughtful
As always
your forever friends
Shirley, Norm, Mike and Hollie ;-)

You're welcome Shirley...the least I can do :goodvibes

We got a survey regarding our stay also. I filled it out and was contacted by someone from CI&S regarding it. They felt I rated their staff "unacceptable", when in fact, I rated them 'average'. We checked in just before midnight and out in the morning after breakfast before we caught the shuttle. As you can imagine, checking in was extremely prompt. There really wasn't much interaction with the staff. The only 'negative' I gave them on the survey was I wasn't asked about/to join their frequent stay program. Everything else was fine....I was still in the middle of my vacation (& still am here in FL) when I filled the survey out. Emailed her back and reassured her everything was fine.

I would stay here again and DO recommend it :thumbsup2

Thanks for the pic of CI&S, we are staying in exactly that type of room in Nov and it is nice to see what it looks like!

Thank you so much for posting those pictures of the family suite. We are staying in that suite next Oct. we have three kids, so it is perfect. It's so nice that hotels are starting to have family suites and sleeping arrangements where siblings don't have to share a bed, which is never fun! Thanks again!:thumbsup2

I went ahead and sent Kelly a copy of your post so that she will know - if you drop me a note at snelsonbrown@aol.com, I will be more than glad to give you her personal email address.
Thanks again for sharing for it does help folks a lot - I know my son has stayed there twice and both times, he had a great time

Shirley - Just wanted to say thanks for all your help on this thread. Partly due to your recommendation I am staying at the Radisson right now waiting for my cruise tomorrow. My room is clean and well kept. I have a wonderful view of the port from my window - I can see the Carnival ship now, hopefully when I wake up tomorrow Disney's Wonder will be in view.

Thanks Shirley for the time you took compiling all this great info in one spot.
It would be great if the moderators would make this a sticky topic so it doesn't get lost.:goodvibes

Bumping it back up to the top for others to enjoy.:thumbsup2

Shirley, thanks for all the new information. Also, I have stayed at CI&S and it is terrific! Just bumping up all this great info. Thanks Shirley!
