OK we are going on our very first cruise next month, so just to verify.....I was planning on (checking in with the rest of our luggage) taking a clearly marked, unopened, case of poland springs bottled water for us to have on the ship and now that will not be acceptable, is that correct??

I don't want to start an argument. But, I don't understand why the Coast Guard should care if I bring a couple cans of BARQ'S root beer in my carry-on. Are we getting into the whole liquid thing like on airlines? They do not offer BARQ'S onboard. In the past, I bought BARQ'S in St Thomas and brought it back to the ship. We always buy a case of water onboard but I do enjoy a cold BARQ'S on the verandah.

I think we need some clarification:

Is liquor/beer/wine still allowed to be brought onboard via carryon or rolling cooler?
Is a case of water allowed to be checked with luggage or is this gone as well?

Judy so far we are allowed to since being small vendors, all of our stuff is checked at 9 different check points before it gets to housekeeping and being that we do have our "assorted" badges, so far we are allowed to but will know more later. I sure hope they do not stop me for carrying water, sodas, beer etc for that would close my doors for sure, but so far so good.

MARCH 19, 2008---UPDATE ON CARRY ON AND IDS
This is the information I was able to find out

Guests are permitted to bring their beverages, HOWEVER, they MUST carry these items onboard the ship. The size is equal to the airline requirements which is a SMALL CARRY ON. These carry on's must be able to fit through the X-RAY machine. As most know there are signs posted on the side of the terminal with these requirements. You can also check the DCL sailing brochure as it is listed there as well.
PLEASE DO NOT TIP the porter to accept the items to deliver to your rooms since they are not able to accept this offering.
HARD COOLERS (ONLY SMALL MATERIAL TYPE CARRY ON) ARE NOT PERMITTED and you will be advised to return the cooler back to your vehicle also remember NO ICE.
At this time, DCL does not confiscate any of the above items as the other cruise line do especially RCCL.

Mom and Pop owned by Sue and Eddie and it is Mid-East Kabob & shawarma - I was impressed with the smiles of presentations.

We were trying to figure out where to eat tonight and my husband said what does Shirley say? So I looked up this thread and we chose the Pita Garden. It's a TINY little place in a little strip mall just after you turn the corner onto 520 and WOW! We were impressed! The help was nice and helpful. The food was great. We had huge (small) greek salads and lamb kabobs (girls) and beef schwarma platters (boys) and left totally stuffed.

Turned right out of the parking lot to drive over the pretty csway and whoops, there's the walmart so of cousre there were last minute necessities. Also a huge accident, right on the corner. So by the time we got out of walmart, the traffic was horrific and there was another accident a block down so we got out of dodge and headed back for cocoa.

By then it was time for ice cream so we found Shirley's recommended DQ and that too was YUM. So Shirl - your recommendations are 2 for 2 today! Thank you so much!!!

This weekend is a NIGHTMARE IN ACCIDENTS. It is Easter weekend, Spring Break and a HUGE surfing contest at the Cocoa Beach Pier - Norm and I were in it ALL day and not only were we dodging bullets (taking short cuts to get out of the heavy traffic), but accidents and kids that were just taking the chance to run right accross a heavy A1A to get to the beach - today will even be worse so be careful so everyone be careful.
Anyhow aren't the folks and food at Pita Gardens great - did you tell them you were from this board for they will give you a discount? Also DQ gives discounts if you tell them you are off the board. I know the restaurant is small, but it is clean and they do have great food.
Anyhow glad all worked out good for ya and have a safe cruise.

I just called Sue from the Pita Garden to let her know how much you enjoyed the food and she said to relay the message that you and your family were wonderful - she asked me also to tell you thanks for the bottom of her heart that you enjoyed their little restaurant.
(NOPE NOTHING IN THIS FOR ME OR SHOP - just like to let folks know there are choices here
Its funny Norm wanted to try it and I was VERY hesitate, but was so pleasing surprise not only by the food, but the hospitality of everyone)
