MY FAMILY AND I ARE PRETTY NEW TO DVC (2 YEARS TOTAL) TODAY I CALLED TO MAKE RESERVATIONS AT THE BOARDWALK. I WAS EXACTLY 7 MONTHS OUT TO THE DAY. THERE WAS NO AVAILABILITY FOR THE WEEK IN NOV. WE ARE PLANNING TO GO. MY KIDS ARE HEART-BROKEN. THEY HAD THEIR HEARTS SET ON THE CLOWN SLIDE. I SETTLED FOR OKW, WHICH DOES NOT EXCITE THE KIDS AT ALL (NOR US). WE DID GO ON THE WAITING LIST FOR THE BOARDWALK. DOES ANYONE HAVE MUCH EXPERIENCE WITH THE WAITING LIST AND HOW OFTEN DO YOU ACTUALLY HEAR BACK FROM THEM AND GET YOUR ORIGINAL REQUEST? IS HOPING FOR THE BOARDWALK A LOST CAUSE? :wave2:

Don't give up yet! The Food and Wine Festival is going on during this time in November, so the Boardwalk and Beach Club Villas are even more of a draw to be closer to Epcot. We were wait listed last year at this time and ended up getting it. There is still a fair bit of movement through 60 days out.

Plus my brother's family just returned from OKW and LOVED it. The kids enjoyed the sandcastle slide and the family loved the relaxed atmosphere.

Wishing you good luck with the wait list.

Your kids and your family will love OKW. It's a great resort. There is a new slide at the main pool that is really neat. The rooms are so big, plus the place is spread out with lots of room to play. You will see rabbits all over the place, plus some pretty neat birds. You can take a boat to DTD or even rent a boat to see the alligators in the canal. There are a bunch of fun activities over at Community Hall for the kids to take part in.

Plus as long as pool hopping isn't blacked out, you can hop over to the BW pool and swim to your heart's content.

If you really aren't thrilled with OKW, you can wait list for any of the other DVC resorts at the same time. When a wait list comes through you can ask them to call you and you will have the option to accept or decline. We were surprised that after waitlisting, we were able to get in BWV starting Easter Sunday during the busy spring break time. Keep believing!

This is why so many recommend the "buy where you'd most like to stay" ...unfortunately, certain times of the year are difficult to get in at certain resorts even at exactly 7mos. :( That said, you probably have a great shot at getting your waitlist to come through and as mentioned, hopefully you can still pool-hop. FWIW, OKW is beautiful and you may love it if you have never stayed there...the villas are larger and you can park right in front of your villa if you'll have a car. And the new slide makes it a bit more fun now for the kids:)
Best of luck and Pixie dust though on your waitlist coming through:)

As far as the wait list is concerned, from our experiences, you have a great chance of getting what you are waiting for. In 3 years, we've had to wait list for more nights than I can count. Almost every time, we've gotten what we waitlisted for. The one time we didn't, we were waiting for a 1 BR at HH. There are very few of those, and we didn't even try until about 2 1/2 months out!
