So trip planned for September for a client, they have this as their wish list:

1. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
2. Animal Kingdom at Night (ROL, nighttime safari)
3. Halloween Horror Nights
4. Two Days at Universal
5. Food and Wine

Dates cannot be changed (September 19 to 25) and the trip cannot be longer then 7 days

So I suggested:

Day 1, arrive early and head into Animal Kingdom for the nighttime attractions
Day 2, either DHS or MK with MNSSHP at night with a break in between
Day 3, Epcot for Food and Wine
Day 4, transfer to Universal and HHN at night
Day 5, Universal Day 1
Day 6, Universal Day 2
Day 7, Home

The client is extremely unhappy about this itinerary and other then moving the Universal stuff down a day so that they have an extra day at Disney, requiring them to be in the parks on departure day I have no idea how else to achieve their goals for the trip without it being a full-loaded trip. Any suggestions would be helpful.

The client doesn't want to do anything on arrival day or departure day though. But that would just condense the trip more. No idea how to make this person happy.

I take it you are a travel agent?

I would start by accepting that some people will never be happy, and set so many limitations for themselves, it will be impossible to come up with a perfect solution. When I worked directly with passengers, there were requests I couldn't satisfy. So many people believe that a TA can snap their fingers and miracles occur, but we do not have super powers. We are people who have to deal with people.

I think their best (and only) option is to get a car, to give them more flexibility. If not, it will be a very hard thing.
With Universal on SEP 22 & 23, they would only need to hire a car for 1 day on the 24th and go back to their Universal hotel in the evening. Or maybe a taxi?
Otherwise it would be 2 hotel transfers.

I would sit with the client and explain the following facts, without a car and staying onsite:
- You don't want to go to a park on your arrival and departure day.
- You have 5 days, on 3 of them you want to visit a night time event.
- On those 5 days, you want to visit 6 parks. (They do want to see all 4 Disney parks? If yes, park hoppers are a must.)
- MNSSHP is only on SEP 20 and SEP 23
- HHN is only on SEP 22 and SEP 23
- SEP 24, you want to be in Disney. (that's at least my understanding.

Give them a list of options to choose from, each has their limitations, but that’s what they have to realize.
Maybe if they see the different options, they might start thinking for themselves.

Possible downsides to each plan
  • Park hopping can drain energy.
  • Food & Wine in the weekend is busier than during the week
  • Having HHN and MNSSP on 2 nights in a row. Maybe better to split it.
Some options below. There are many more, I just have thrown things together, certain things can be changed.

I think option 3 is my personal favorite.
It gives a full day in MK and EP, F&W during the week, MNSSHP and HHN are split, it would only one day car rental / taxi. And I think ROL will be a nice magical thing to end the vacation with. Although I might switch HHN and Universal, now that I write what my favorite is. Then you could have a low key day at Universal, before you start park hopping.

This is all I could come up with based on what you said they wanted.

Day 1: Arrival / resort day
Day 2: MK / MNSSHP
Day 3: Epcot / F&W
Day 4: AK
Day 5: Universal during the day / Horror Nights at night
Day 6: Universal
Day 7: Resort/Departure Day

There's no way to not double up on parks for them if they want to go to all 4 Disney parks, and they have a limited number of options as far as seeing both HHN & MNSSHP. If they didn't state they wanted DHS, I didn't include it in my plans. But if they do, it would be so easy to include it on Day 2-4. That way they would have 1 park per day and could take a break and then go back and finish the park they were in if they wanted to. Is the reason they want to be at Disney on the 24 to make use of ME?
