Hi all,

It seems as if I have been scanning the forums here for ages and finally DH and I have decided to take the plunge. Our guide will not be back into the office until Thursday as she only works part-time. We are wanting to join ASAP when she returns into the office. Should I leave her a message and hope she checks her voice-mail while she's off or should I just be patient and wait until Thursday. Once I talk to her on Thursday how long of a process is it to sign paperwork and when should we expect to be able to utlize our points?

Thanks,
Melly:)

Melly,

I am not a DVC member yet but looking at joining as well. We called the toll free number and spoke with a general operator. She then left a detailed message for our rep who promptly called us back when he returned to the office after a few days off. The system seems to be pretty tightly tuned.

Also, I was told that our use year would be August and that all the points would be available immediately.

Hope this helps.

Hi Melly-
I would call and leave a message so that she'll have it when she gets in on Thursday. You will have all your paperwork by Monday because DVC overnights everything, so I don't see you getting everything any later than Monday. DVC service is fabulous, and they will work quickly to get you a piece of Disney magic. Once you get the paperwork, you can send it back the next day if you have all the required info DVC needs or send it back at your earliest convenience. My approval for the financing came in the week after I sent my paperwork in, and everything is smooth sailing from there. You sound a lot like me (being excited and anxious to finalize it all), but don't fret. The points will still be there for you. If you are worried about the financing special, don't forget you have until Feb. 1 for that. Let me know if you need a name for a referral for the 15% discount at Saratoga Springs.

The financing is the real hold up. If you finance through Disney, you have to wait for them to close, which could take a few weeks.

If you really want access to DVC fast, best thing is to get the money yourself. Either take out a home equity loan (much better rates than DVC, usually) or even use a credit card (I strongly sugggest you line up a way to pay that off before you incur cedit card interest though!).

I would call now and leave a message about wanting to buy in. I did and my guide actually called me back on her day off, Saturday, after some walk-a-thon she was in. Time frame would be......once you tell your guide you want in, tell her the amount of points and she will ask for a $500 deposit. While your on the phone she will ask some questions pertaining annual dues payments and if you want to finance..go through EFT or get a monthly statement. Once all the questions have been answered she should give you a membership #. After an hour or so you can begin booking with MS.
try not to have a big contract.....don't have 1 contract for 250 points. I would break it in two if you can ..... 150 and a 100. Just in case you ever need to sell one its easier to sell when there smaller. I got this suggestion from some one here....I bought 310 at BWV and broke it into two 155.
Paperwork arrived 3 days later and I sent it back the following day. So if you are buying through Disney you can begin right away....you just can't transfer points until your contract has been Ok'd and filed.
Hope this helped, we joined last Monday....Good Luck ::yes::
