We are planning a trip to Vero Beach for just the 2 of us, for our anniversary. We haven't stayed there before and would like some advice. We like the guaranteed ocean view you can get with the Inn room, but my DH prefers the Studio accommodations and thinks that the Inn room looks more like a hotel room. Any thoughts or opinions on this? Would you choose a Studio Room or a Ocean View Inn?

Also, can anyone recommend a romantic restaurant for lunch or dinner in the area? When we check out of Vero Beach we will be driving up to WDW, we are thinking about driving up the coast to get there...anyone do this? What's the best way to drive up to WDW? Also looking for suggestions on great restaurants we could check out along the way up?

Thanks so much in advance for your help! :flower3:

Well... The only reason I would stay in studio is that it has a sofa/queen bed arrangement instead of a two queen beds. Otherwise, from the inside they have the same kitchen and bath setup. The ocean view and sounds and sunrise from the OVIR is wonderful. That said the chances of getting an ocean view from the studios depends mostly on what floor you are on. If you are on the third floor of bldg 12 or 15 then you will get a view. Maybe even 2nd floor of bldg 12. Here is a link to another thread with a lot of info (especially the first posts) http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1969415

Sonya's at VBR is described by DVC as the place for "steaks, chops and seafood in a rich and romantic setting". We agree. :thumbsup2

Another point on the choice of rooms: Inn Rooms are better during hurricane season. At least if weather turns foul, you have access to the main buidling's restaurants, lounge and front desk without having to run between buildings (not to mention underground parking). You also can't beat the view from the 3rd & 4th floor Inn Rooms that face the ocean!

Otherwise, I would tend to prefer the Studios for location and tranquility.

I have to say... (keep in mind we don't like spending money in restaurants) But when we looked at the menu prices for Sonya's this last time... we immediately ruled it out. Rule of thumb for us... if the menu removes the decimal point in the price... we can't afford it. :)

Very interesting thought you have about hurricanes and the Inn. A couple times ago we had tropical storm Ernesto come through and many people left the resort ahead of time and the management was calling everyone in the villa buildings and telling them to move to the INN. They weren't making you move, but they were kind of trying to make it seem like you had to... and said by a certain hour we could not move and would have to stay where we were. We stayed in our 1 bdrm and the storm fizzled, but... it could have been different.

3rd & 4th floor OVIR are bliss. We have had it so many times now that our future stays will be in a 1 bdrm for the amenities.
