Help with Touring Plan

Is the afternoon parade a good time to visit Toontown? I thought it might be, but I was just looking at the "cheat sheet" that Len posted and it says no. Should I try to do Adventureland instead and do Toontown between Wishes and closing?

I have always read that the lines at most attractions drop off during parades, etc. I know at the Studios that as the time for Fantasmic gets closer the crowds at popular attractions like Tower of Terror disappear.

I would say yes, because half of the park watches the parade. However, the afternoon parade doesn't cut times the same way the nighttime shows does. It won't be as empty as the night parades make things. I still would think it would be a good time to do most things though, comparatively.

Thanks for using the cheat sheets!

The difficulty with Adventureland during the parades is getting there. The parade route effectively cuts off Adventureland and parts of Frontierland from the rest of the park. If you're in Adventureland around 2:45 pm (assuming a 3 pm parade), you should be set.

Regarding Toontown, the issue is that it only takes a relatively small number of people to keep Toontown's attractions busy. The number of guests the Barnstormer can handle per hour isn't in the same ballpark as, say, Pooh, so it takes fewer people to make longer lines. While Minnie's House and Donald's Boat should be fine, getting autographs at the Toontown HoF or Mickey's House will still result in considerable waits.

Len, thank you so much for responding. I guess I am having a hard time because I had hoped to be out of FL by 10:00 and on to Toontown, but I am going the week after Easter and the park is scheduled to open at 9:00. We wanted to do Dumbo, Pooh, PhilharMagic, Peter Pan, IASW and the Carrousel. Because of the crowd sizes, I thought it would be at least 10:30-11:00 before we would be done.. Does it normally not take that long? I am still hoping they will change the hours to 8:00 am. I think that would really help. Thanks again for your help. Can't wait to see the cheat sheets for the other parks.

If you're arriving right at opening, I think you should be able to be on your way to TT by 10:00, but you may need to use FP on one of the FL rides to help fit everything in. IASW will still be closed during your visit so that will help cut down on the time you'll need in FL.

How does the following "game plan" sound?

Right at opening, hit Dumbo, then Peter Pan, the Carousel, and PhilHarmagic. By this time it should be pretty close to the Toontown opening at 10:00, so on your way over to TT, grab a FP at Pooh, then head straight for the Barnstormer when TT opens, followed by Mickey's House and the other TT stuff.

Then when you're finished in TT, you can go back and do Pooh with your FP.

f16, I think thatmight be a good start. Stephanie, what do you plan to do after Toontown? If it's something like Frontierland (especially the mountains), you might be better off with a different route. If it's lunch and a nap, that's different.

As the plan is now, I think you'd be out of Fantasyland by 11, certainly. Maybe earlier, depending on the age of your children, and number of breaks.

Thanks so much for the replies. My DS8 does not want to ride any of the Mountains, so we are skipping those, as my husband does not care anything about them either. My plan was to do:

FL - FP Pooh, Dumbo, Peter Pan, IASW (if open), PhilharMagic, Carrousel, Pooh

TT - Barnstormer, Mickey, Hall of Fame

TL - FP Buzz, Indy, lunch, TTA, Buzz

LS - Haunted Mansion

FL - Tom Sawyer Island

MS - 6:30 PS for Crystal Palace, Spectromagic at 9:00, Wishes at 10:00

AL - Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Alladin until closing at 11:00

I like the idea of FP Pooh and coming back to it after TT. That might help. I am still praying for 8:00 opening instead of 9:00, though. That was the hours last year, but of course, which the evening EMH the night before now, it may not happen.

You mentioned that you're visiting the week after Easter. Which day specifically are you planning to do the MK? The Unofficial Guide crowd estimate shows quite a bit of difference between Monday and later in the week...

I plan to go on Thursday, as I was hoping the crowds would be smaller due to evening EMH on Wednesday.

In Toontown, are you getting Mickey's autograph? Any autographs in the Toontown Hall of Fame? Or will you be walking through both?

Also, you've got only one day at the Magic Kingdom, right? Any mid-day breaks to consider?

No autographs, but I want a picture with Mickey, then over to see Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and Chip N Dale. I am not sure who else is in there. I do not think DS and DH will be interested in having their picture with the princesses, but you never know.

No afternoon breaks since we are only there for a few days. Yes, just the one day at MK.
