I registered back in October when the program was announced. In Jan. I received an email stating we could volunteer. So, since that time I have tried again and again to no avail. Many looking for volunteers would not accept my daughter due to age, most did not respond to my request to volunteer. I finally came across the Story Time from the Front Lines which I thought was fabulous. After receiving the tool kit, I clicked on the part that says to register so I did but I keep getting the disney.com website to register which I did already in October.

Am I to assume (dangerous word, I know) that I can just go ahead with the volunteer work? When I go to manage my account, it shows the Hands On program in green and when I click on that it states that I have not volunteered for a job yet. When I try to volunteer the Story Time, I seem to just go around in circles.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong, I am sooooo :confused3

I am by no means an expert, but was wondering if you have a hands on network acct (it is separate from the disney one). This is the acct that showed the actual event I was signed up for (date, time, info), on disney's it just said that I was registered to volunteer.

Not sure, but I did register with Disney back in October and that is who I received my email from so my guess is that my account is with Disney. But I cannot seem to sign up for an actual date/time, although the Story Time does not have a specific date to volunteer. It is an at home project and the tool kit says just to complete it within 60 days.

What am I missing? :confused3

I really need some help here, does anyone know what I am doing wrong?:confused3

I don't know if this will help, but I will share our experience. My wife had an account before volunteering for her current signup. This was because we had signed up for something that is more than 60 days out and we didn't want to miss out so we decided to switch.

We tried to signup with Heart to Heart to make kits for Haiti relief. It sounds a little like your opportunity, where you do the project at home and send it somewhere. So, here was the kicker. We tried to signup by searching for the opportunity within the Disney site. We sent in our email address and got a reply from the organization with the link to click to complete our registration. This didn't work for us at all. It turned out that because we already had an account we had to do the search from inside the Manage Account feature, not from the general list.

When we were in Manage Account, we could see all the members of the family, but under Action Required it said we still had to search for and find an opportunity. We clicked the link to search through Hands On, found the same opportunity and registered our email (again) and go a new message from the organization. This time the link worked for us and we got a reply email from the organization saying that we were now signed up.

Even once you are signed up, it takes about 24 hours before your status changes in Disney's Manage Account screen to say you are signed up.

The key is to get the email with the title '[VOP] Thanks for Signing Up To Volunteer!' and within that email it will list the registered participants. After that you are set.

I don't know if that helps, but we did have to mess around a bit ourselves because we had an existing account.

Wow! Thanks. Your situations sounds just like mine. I will try what you said. Wish me luck! Honestly, If it does not work, I might just send books to our soldiers anyway because I was very touched by what is being done. So whether I receive a free disney ticket or not, I will probably send books anyway.:dance3:
