I recently bought the Teva Leather Circuits. They also come in nylon as well. These are what Teva classifies as walking sandals (like walking shoes). They have a shock pad in the heel and the nice padded straps as well. If you buy Teva's look for the kind with the adjustable heel strap so you can get a better fit. Mine are very comfortable, and I'm not typically a sandal person. It did take me a couple of days to get them adjusted just right though. There is a post on the old Budget board on how to properly adjust your Teva's. I can't remember it exactly, but it went something like this:
Loosen all the straps on the sandals, including the heel strap.
Stand up, place your foot in the sandal, and line up the arch of your foot with the arch of the sandal.
While flexing your toes upward, adjust the front ankle strap.
Now, adjust the heel strap so that it cups your heel.
Adjust the toe strap.
I wore mine around the house for a couple of days so I could make sure they were comfortable. Most shoe stores will accept returns on shoes as long as your haven't worn them outside. The Teva Leather Circuits that I bought were normally $80, but I found them on sale for $49.99 at American Outfitters. On
www.rei-outlet.com they also have limited sizes of the nylon Circuit for $40. On
www.teva.com they have nice descriptions on the various types of sandals they offer. They also have a catalog you can request. I got mine in about 2 weeks.
