Help with school decisions Tampa area?

Can any Tampa residents give me some thoughts on what high school would be the best for my incoming freshman DD? We are making the move as soon as they finish the school year here in NY, but I need to find a rental to get into the district and I think I have it narrowed down to two: Palm Harbor University High in Palm Harbor and Plant High School in South Tampa. I have 2 younger kids as well, but the big concern was my oldest and getting into the best district for academics and college prep.

Any thoughts from Dis'ers in the area? Thanks so much - the research has been really overwhelming!!

Both are good school districts, where will you work? Do you plan to rent for all
4yrs of high school?

We do plan on buying, sooner rather than later, once we get my house in NY sold and we are comfortable buying in an area we know. We do have 3 kids, so this is a long term move, the high school decision is because that is where the oldest where will be starting and we know that if there is a high quality public high, usually the public middle/elementary feeding it are usually good as well.

Art1 thank you, but we have to focus on public schools. Currently we are looking to secure employment before the move, I will probably be going ahead of the family. I am an RN/NP but I also have lots of years of pharma sales, so I am working with different recruiters looking to get interviews set up shortly. I know that if we decide on Palm Harbor, if I go back to nursing I probably need to focus on the Morton PLant Mease System? Tampa General if we are over there, or I could go back to home care and it wouldn't really matter.

Any other thoughts from those who live nearby?

I know my posts don't reflect it, but I've been on the Dis since 2000 under another name (Jasmine206 I believe - my aging memory...) and then I was MIA for a while, and I trust the people on these boards! I think we will be happy in many of the Tampa areas, so, thoughts?? Thanks so much!

Hi! You are looking for similar info to what I'm looking for it appears. We are looking to make the move by the end of next year and my first place to start was looking at school districts too - even though mine haven't started school yet. Hope you find the info you are looking for... it is likely you didn't have many give advice because your thread got bounced off by hotter topics and fewer saw it - it happens to me too . I noticed in my google search of Tampa that some of the real estate sites have links to school ratings - maybe that would be a good place to look.
