Sorry again for my ignorance, everyone. I read lots of pages of threads about the "room ready' policy and sort of understand about not getting a terrific view in a preferred room at BWV.

Right now I am expecting rent DVC points for a trip in Jan 2004. We are waiting for the BW res system to come back up to see what is available, but I am pretty sure we will either be at BCV or BWV preferred (in a studio).

When I make my normal ressies thru the CRO I get the following things guaranteed on my ressie:
Non/smoking since DS has severe asthma/ allergies
TTY/TDD for the hearing impaired for my DH who is deaf

Can I still ask the DVC owner to make these requests when she makes the ressie? Are they guaranteed in this situation or not?

I also make requests based on the hotel like : highest floor possible, water view if possible, etc...
The recent threads suggest to me that these will not even play a part in our ressie since we will probably be one of the latest check-ins (flight arrives at 7PM). We will be staying for 11 nights so I want to be sure we would at least get the NS studio.
Thanks for your help!

don't be too disappointed if you get OKW

yes the member needs to put the non-smoking because of health reasons

I was told that first they do their guests who need the handicapped rooms, then health reasons, then everyone else.

but be prepared to say exactly why you need the non-smoking rooms and bring proof if asked.

I think all the TVs on WDW property have the reading stuff along the bottom of the set - so that should not be a problem. You just have to make sure the TV is on the right channel - they have both.

hope you and your family love WDW.

thanks again for the help! Actually the TVs have built in captioning on all of them (at least the non-DVC resorts that we have been to) but sometimes you have to call Mousekeeping or property mgmt to come and activate it, others have the CC on the remote or the TV itself.

The TTY/TDD kit is available to all hearing impaired guests who need door knockers, smoke detectors, alarm clock, etc... We never have had a problem with having one of these waiting for us when we checked in.

I'll just be sure to request that these are listed when we make the ressie then.

Anyone have any advice on the non-health requests? Does it make sense to even make any of these or are they moot considering what time we are checking in?

I don't think it can hurt to put the requests down, but just plan on NOT getting them, then if you do, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Just make sure the the n/s for medical reasons is the FIRST request.

Ok-thanks again! I will have the DVC owner make sure they state the request the same way I would. I also carry his medical paperwork with us on vacation (in case of a medical emergency) and he wears his medic alert bracelet, so if they need proof, we'll have it.

Thanks also for the info on the other requests--I figure it doesn't hurt to ask and you never know what you'll get. Checking in late has its good & bad points, so we'll see what happens!

I appreciate the advice! :)

From talking to DVC CMs I do believe rooms are preassigned for handicapped & medical requests. Also, I have never had to bring/show proof at any WDW resort for my medical related requests (non-smoking & first floor or elevator building).
