My Son is 13 months old and eating only solid Grown up foods. Does anyone have any good recipes that are simple for me to prepare so he is not always eating the same things?
I never made any "recipes" strictly for my toddlers, but I did buy a recipe book for them once. I passed it on years ago...
One thing I remember in that book was "eggy bread." Basically just make french toast, using wheat bread, then cut it into cubes and let baby self feed. No syrup..he won't care!
I used to scramble them an egg if they couldn't eat the protien we were having. Cheese cubes are good too.. and canned fat free refried beans. My babies would scoop up refried beans with their fingers
I've made low fat versions of muffins to have on hand for healthy snacks. Keep lots of fresh fruits around, even canned, to help supplement at meal time.
Way to go - don't worry about making stuff separately if he's eating what you eat, just watch salt and sugar levels for tiny teeth and kidneys Also raisins are not as hjealthy as everyone thinks - a few are OK but they have concentrated fruit sugars which are not so good And obviously "choky" things like whole nuts are a no no at this stage.
If you want toddler-specific recipes I swear by Annabel Karmel - google her and you'll find a few to try, and her books are available over there
Thanks everyone for the ideas. I am going on Jenny Craig so I won't always have a meal for him to eat off of my plate I think I am going to make MAC and CHeese and Lasagna and things like that to put in the freezer so I can just pop it in the Microwave.
Bolognaise works well like that - I freeze the meat in portions then cook the pasta fresh, reheat the bol in th microwave and put together. I also freeze grated parmesan to sprinkle on it - it cools it down quickly!
My son loved "train man soup" (the only reason he named it is because of the noodles)
Cook wagon wheel pasta (train wheels) until soft in chicken broth then throw in a couple of small hand fulls of frozen peas and carrots. When they get soft use a slotted spoon and serve a few at a time on to his tray.
