We (me, DH, sons 14 and 17) are arriving on a Saturday in March for an 8 night stay at AKL. Our plane is scheduled to arrive at about 6 PM from the west coast.

I know we'll be hungry (teenage boys, remember?) and won't want to go to bed too early (teenage boys on west coast time). I'm afraid to make a ps because almost every flight I've ever been on has been late but we're on the Silver Plan so using wishes for a good meal would be fine with me. I was thinking of DD. A little Disneyquest followed by a late (9ish) dinner at WPC.

Comments or other ideas? Thanks for all the help I've gotten here!

I come from the West Coast as well. Since you will be excited the night before and have a hard time going to sleep. To arrive at MCO at 6:00 you probably have an early flight (unless you have a non stop) so will be up really early. It will probably be close to 7:00 by the time you get to the hotel. The hotel is the AKL, there will be plenty to look at for a couple hours. Dinner at Boma would be good that night. But Downtown Disney is always a good place to go for a couple extra hours. Most of the restaurants there don't excite me though I would like to try House of Blues. You could hit the Boardwalk for some dinner and fun too. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from at the Epcot resorts, all of which are easliy walkable from the Boardwalk.

If you will be paying for DisneyQuest, I don't think you will have enough time to get your money's worth if you only have 1 to 2 hours to spend there. You can return to Disney Quest after dinner, so maybe its worth it then. Also, I'm not familiar with the Silver Plan; if it doesn't cost you to visit Disney Quest, then it really doesn't matter. You might consider going directly to AKL to check in and get familiar with AKL maybe go to the pool if its not too cold and eat there.

Visiting DD is a good idea and you can spend time shopping if you don't go to Disney Quest.

Another suggestion is to visit another resort and eat there.

Do you plan to visit a grocery store? That's usually one of the 1st things we do when we fly to WDW.

I see nothing wrong with getting a PS for a time that you expect to be able to make. Since PS's are not reservations, the restaurant won't hold a table for you if you are a no-show. If you don't arrive on time and others are waiting, it will have little or no impact on the restaurant's business.

If you have never been to AKL you may want to just stay put and enjoy, we LoVE this place. Storytelling and lots of animals to see with CM's all over to give you info about the animals you see. Great game room and pool as well as two great dining options right at the Lodge. If you make a PS and arrive late I think they will do their best to make arrangements for you. This will help in case someone has jet lag or is tired and the rest of you are not - have fun.

What about dinner at O'Hana's? Downtown Disney sounds like a great idea too, but I think you'd like House of Blues for dinner. The food is excellent there. You could head for EPCOT and have dinner at one of the Pavillion's, then watch Illuminations or head over to the Boardwalk. Spoodle's is very good.

I read your suggestion and felt like whacking myself on the side of the head and saying "Duh." How dumb can I be? That's exactly the plan I had for the next night - swimming, exploring and eating at Boma. It makes so much more sense to do it on our arrival day! So I got an 8:00 ps for Boma. If the teenagers get squirrelly, I'll use some of these other suggestions.

The next night after visiting AK, we'll probably do DD (I have another night planned at BW and one at O'Hanas). Now I'm curious about HOB versus WPC but I should probably ask that on the restaurant board.

Thanks everybody!
