Help with Mickey crocs!

So, I bought a pair of Mickey "flip flop" style crocs at the very end of my last WDW trip (caught in MK in a total downpour and my wet feet were sliding around like crazy in my Nike flip flops!)... I wore them briefly, flew home and tossed them in my Disney bin. Well, we're headed back in two weeks and I wanted to bring them since they really were great as far as not slipping in the rain. The problem is they are KILLING my feet! I don't know if I'm up for breaking them in the usual way, I tried today and I just couldn't stand it. Is there some other way to soften them up a bit??

I think the problem is the seam in the plastic/rubber of the thong part - maybe I could somehow soften that a bit?? Has anyone else had this issue?

Kimmers I have a pair of the Mickey flip flop crocs, and a pair of Mickey regular style Crocs.

This won't answer your question, but I'd like to share a couple of observations with you. I've tried the regular style Crocs and they gave me zero traction on a wet surface. I was at the Boardwalk after they had hosed it down for the morning and it was like walking on ice!

I like my Mickey flip flop Crocs around the house (or the resort) but there's no way I can walk all those miles at WDW in any flip flops. I tried it, and after one day every muscle in my body hurt!

I hope you can find a solution to the "thong" problem, and with luck, you'll be one of those lucky people who can walk for miles in flip flops!:earsboy:

I know it's bizarre, but I actually can walk for miles in flip flops... I always wear flip flops at Disney, and I'm a hardcore park fiend! I almost never do sneakers. My feet usually do great in flip flops, but this one pair is rubbing the instant I put them on. :(

I hope this isn't too useless because I can't remember what they are called (I can't stand anything between my toes so no flip flops for me). Scholl make gel cushions that you can insert in your shoes and I have also seen a cushion that you put around the toe post of flip flops. I have no idea what the actual name of the item is. I will see if I can search and jog my memory though.

I don't know if this will work with the flip flop crocs but it is what we do with our regular clog style crocs. Lots and lots of baby powder. We put baby powder in the shoes and on our feet and it keeps the crocs from rubbing on our skin. We usually wipe the shoes out each evening, especially if they have gotten wet, and then reapply again in the morning.

My daughter had this same problem with hers. I took about 15 minutes on each and just sat their and used my hands to work the strap and thong up and down and side to side over and over and over again. It was a real pain but she is fine since then.

If there is a seam that is sticking out and rubbing you could try using an exacto knife to try and shave it down.

Thanks for the suggestion - I think if they were just plain rubbing this would be a great solution, but I think the seam is what's causing the discomfort...

Thanks for the suggestions - I do think it is the seam that's giving me trouble. I will try just working the strap with my hands for a bit. I don't have an exacto knife but maybe I could try and file the seam down with a metal nail file or something.

When I very first got the Mickey flip flops, after realizing that my nice supportive athletic shoes were killing me, the bones of my feet felt great, but the skin between my toes and on top of my feet was getting rubbed raw. The skin was swelling even before blistering. Painful.

So I put about 1000 adhesive bandages on and just dealt with that discomfort to get through the rest of the trip.

And after that trip, the thongs had loosened up enough that it wasn't doing that to me anymore.

So I suppose that adhesive bandages are my suggestion. :)

I love wearing the Athens style flip flops (whether they have Mickey heads or not) in the parks. Some people have problem with traction, others don't. I never have, even in my worn down Crocs maryjanes. I think maybe it's in the way an individual walks, that causes some people problems. Not that there's something WRONG with the way someone walks, but we each have our own ways of walking, and some ways seem to allow for Crocs to grab hold of the ground, and other ways of walking doesn't allow that.

I have a pair of the mickey crocs and wore them on our last trip. (I also have a mew pair of the same style croc flip flops for every summer!) They always rub my toe when they are new. I usually wear them around the house, out and about as much as possible for short stretches and it breaks them in.

Take walks around the neighborhood over the next week in them. (Get your Disney legs ready!) just basically throw them on anytime you can. And band-aids totally work if they still rub! :) Hope you have a great trip!
