We are staying off-site May/June and want to play one of the Disney courses.

Any advice on best way to book, how to get best deals and which course would you choose to play? (12 handicap).

It really depends on what kind of course you want to play. I like the magnolia best, but it is more forgiving. It is also where the national car rental final is held, so is a bit more "open" than some of the others. there is a much more narrow course (I forget the name of the developer----tip of my tounge though) which is more difficult. then, there are about 3 others. I always found the early-early tee times to be a bit better, as you can get a round in in 3-4 hours instead of 5-6.

I have used www.golforlando.com, you can book 90 days out and you can get a replay of any course in the afternoon for $30. The AM rates are pricey. I have played Palm and Mag on one day and Eagle and Osprey on another.

I think it's Joe Lee you're looking for.
Played Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge-booked for Lake Buena Vista this time because Magnolia closed for rehab a couple of weeks in May. The other is Palm. You can book in advance by calling 407-wdw-play. I recommend calling in advance esp. if you want a more popular tee time. Non-disney resort guests are $144 in the am $65 twilight (after 3pm).

We're also going the very end of May, and DH is golfing nearly every day. The best price for tee-times is 10:00am of later, but I don't know if you'd be bothered by the heat. However, from doing that last year, DH said there's lots of water available to drink. LBV is described as narrow fairways, Osprey supposedly has very large greens, and Eagle pines is supposed to be prettiest. Either Palm or Magnolia, don't remember which, might be closed when you're there. I remember DH said his favorite course was Osprey, best value was LBV-can't ask him his opinion now-he's out golfing! And I'm sorry I don't remember how long in advance you can book tee-times from off site, we already did for on-site. Check this site: www.wdwgolf.com for some more, great info.

Thanks for all the info everyone, a great help and interesting to read about.

Just managed to find a deal with Keith Prowse 1-800-669-8687 where they offer a 'deluxe golfing adventure'

* 18 holes on one of four Disney courses
* electric cart
* club storage and cleaning
* bucket of range balls

for $75 May 1st to Oct 1st.

This seems about the best deal around? Any comments?

There used to be a "Price Slice" special offered on tee-times after 10:00am that were less than that. However, I don't see that the special is offered this year. If it isn't, or if you don't want to play after 10:00am, this sounds like a good deal. BTW, just so you know, all the prices for greens fees (except the big discounts after 3:00pm) include the range balls, cart, and storage, also I think cleaning (and if I remember, they clean your clubs, then don't even hang around for a tip, unlike at Harbortown Golf Links in HH).

Since you said May/June, I'm going to assume you are playing on 5/19 or later.

$75 is well below the posted off-site rates of $99-119, as long as you are teeing off before 10am.

The "Price Slice" rates are posted, and they kick in at 10am, starting 5/19. They range from $45 to $65, so if you don't mind teeing off at 10am or later, this would still be the better deal.

We've played in September, May and June using these rates, and the only real drawback is the heat, which of course varies. On the plus side, the courses seem to be less crowded at these times.
