i used wallpaper to decoupage our golf cart. it came out amazing but the mod podge (yellow) matte finish doesn't seem to be enough to protect the project. looking for options / products to seal wallpaper. any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated

what is the problem with the modge podge- is it not drying enough or is the wallpaper still soft after using it and it drying?

its dry and not tacky or sticky but if i scratched it with my fingernail it would tear. we put 3 coats of the modge podge so i'm thinking we need another product. the golf cart will be strapped down in our camper to travel so it needs to be at least alittle durable. because of the way we did it..it'll be easy to patch but i would prefer it to not need it

I did a little on web research as this isn't a project I have done in years and never on anything that big. According to the instructions I found here: http://www.wikihow.com/Decoupage you may need to seal you project with a clear varnish or sealer. With something like a golf cart I think this may be a good idea and it should help with the taring issue. I am sorry I don't have any first hand experience with this.

thank you for taking the time to help...i looked at varnishes but was concerned since it is made for wood. i guess it couldn't hurt to try

If I was decoupaging a wood plaque, I would seal it with polyurethane. But polyurethane isn't a good outdoor product. So you need a product that is meant for outside finishes (wood doors), like varnish.

You can try UV resin. It will harden in about 10-30 minutes in the sun, is waterproof, and very easy to work with. The downside is that it is significantly more expensive than ModPodge.
