i have the opportunity to take a cruise late May on the Fantasy. have to make my decision by tomorrow and never been on a Disney Cruise. I will be traveling with my Wife and 7 year old son. the cost will be $2800 for the 3 of us......am I rushing into this? FUN?

what kind of fun things to do on the ship? at dinner do you have to dress up
It's hard for us to say. We don't know what you consider "fun". You can check out the Navigators (daily activity paper) here: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/personal-navigators/ for an idea of what sorts of activities are available onboard the ships.

Not sure what you mean by "dress up", but the general "dress code" is Cruise Casual". There are often scheduled Formal and Semi-formal nights, but as to how you dress, the only "dress code" for dinner is "no bathing suits or tank tops at dinner". And, of course, there's Pirate Night where you can dress up in pirate-themed clothes, if you wish.

That is an awesome price for the Fantasy. I say go for it. Plenty of fun things for all ages. Check out the Navigators Princess Shmoo linked to. There are formal and semiformal nights on the 7 night Fantasy cruises but you don't have to dress up for those.

How long of cruise is it? DO IT!!! You won’t regret it!!

We took our first cruise with DCL last year with our DS who was 5 and we all loved it!

As others have said - there is one formal night when a lot of people will dress up. With the exception of Palo/Remy restaurants you can dress casual for all of the meals.

Fun is relative, but we enjoyed our two trips on the Fantasy. Is it an eastern or western? Does your son like Disney characters and movies? Will he like the Aquaduck?

There will be a night of fireworks. There will be a pirate night and plenty of people dressed as pirates.... and plenty who are not. There will be a formal night. You'll see tuxes and gowns... but more likely nice pants, some jackets and dresses.

It will be as fun as you make it. There will be on-demand movies, but also popular movies in the theater. There are shows every night with singing and dancing. There's the funnel vision that runs Disney shows and movies by the pool. There's plenty to eat, too.

oh my gosh, so fun! What a great price! As others suggested, look at the Navigators for daily activities. The shows at night are amazing and your son may love the kids club!

You don't have to dress up for dinner. We were just on the Fantasy a few weeks ago and the majority of people were wearing t-shirts and shorts at dinner. As PP mentioned, it's "cruise casual" and it's a very relaxed atmosphere. Even for formal or semi-formal nights, it's optional.

Things to do--- mini golf, a really fun detective game that's for all ages, pools, slides, shuffle board, trivia games, movies, stage shows, alcohol tastings, cooking demonstrations, ship tours in which you find out some really cool and interesting things about the ship, dancing, character meets, Cast Away Cay--Disney's island sooooo much fun!!! bingo, animation classes, and crew members that will treat your family like royalty. These are just some of the activities on the ship. We just got done with our 4th cruise last month and I would love to go on another right away, already have another booked, but it's not for another 278 days. My dd was 6 yrs old when she went on her first cruise, she's now 9 yrs old and we have to drag her out of the kid's club. They have all kinds of fun activities for kids, it's nice to be able to leave her there for an hour or two while my dh and I do some of the adult activities like the cooking demonstrations(you get a glass of wine and get to eat what the chef cooks, it's free)

GREAT price for 7 nights - GO! You may never get another chance at that price point. Once you do you’ll be hooked, so if you can swing it plan to have an extra $250 available by the time you sail to book a “placeholder” cruise while onboard for 10 percent off (when you sail again within the next two years). You can read much more about it on the DISboards later, but for now book that trip and start planning! Have a fantastic time - there’s so much to do and see your first time, don’t worry about catching everything. Read some basics here and in the DCL site, then just enjoy every moment!

We are on the May 26 Fantasy cruise so if it is that one you are looking at take it. Also as a family of three I can say it a steal!

Yes. This cruise is for 7 days. I got this rate cause I work for Southwest Airlines. We get good rates on cruises but Disney doesn’t pop up often as other lines. We love Disney so I don’t see a problem of not having a blast. I guess it just not knowing about this cruise line. It’s just hitting us all at once and don’t want to be dispointed cause we rushed it. I love hearing the stories of families on the same ship

I would say do it.
Dressing up, that's entirely up to you. We dressed up for formal night, but the table next to us were in shorts and tshirts.

As for what there is to do, look at some of the previous Personal Navigators for the itinerary that you're considering. It'll give you an idea of what there is to do onboard.

Personally, I wouldn't hesitate. We've done the 7 night Western Caribbean on the Fantasy and had an absolute BLAST. There really is no shortage of things to do onboard for kids and adults.

For a 7 day cruise that is an amazing price! Book it and then come back and ask us questions! I'd go anywhere on a Disney ship at that price for 7 days!

There is tons to do on the ship, different menus every night, you can dress up or down as much as you'd like (just no tank tops/bathing suits!), shows every night, clubs for kids, areas for just adults, family activities to do together, and the movie theater showing the most recent Disney movies.
