Hi everyone. This is my first post so I apologize in advance if I do anything wrong. This is my problem though and I thought that you good people might just be the perfect ones to help me figure it out.

I am surprising my partner with a puppy in the next few weeks for her birthday. (A mini-dachshund to be specific.) She is a huge Disney fan and a college program alum. I would love to give the puppy a Disney inspired name, but as my Disney knowledge is not as vast as hers, I'm afraid that my ideas won't be very original. I do not know yet whether I will be getting a male or female dog so I am open to both girl and boy suggestions as well as gender neutral ideas.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would be so grateful! Thanks so much for your help.

:wave2:

We are dog breeders and have used several Disney names. I had one I registered as "Mickey Mouth" and another whose registered name was "Off to Neverland" and we called her Wendy.

kinda depends on the pets personallity wouldnt want to name a viscious dog pluto, or a tame docile one cruella,,we have one cat who thinks hes part human,, his names is "Brother Kitty"
( inspired by bro bear, ) and that sthe only disney named pet we have , we did have a cute lil doggy oce we named max( goofys son) because we caught him skateboarding soo take the dogs attitude mix in her fav characters and have fun with it:)

We have a pomeranian which is a small dog, also and we named her "Tink" from Peter Pan.

BYW, welcome to the DIS!!!!

oh lord there are so many!
Simba
Nayla
Rafiki
Timon
Pumba
Tinkerbelle
Pick a dwarf - any dwarf - Happy/Sleepy/Grumpy/Doc/Bashful/Dopey/Sneezy
There are 101 dalmations - don't make me list them all.
Mickey/Minnie/Donald/Daisy/Goofy/Pluto
Terk/Baloo

personally - if i was getting a new pup now, a female one, I'd name her Fiona...just cause I'm a shrek freak (yes - not Disney though)

Oh, there are all sorts of possibilities! You may want to wait until you meet the pup to see what his/her personality is going to be. Is it a mini long hair or short hair? My office mate has 2 long hair minis and loooooves them.

Maybe you could pick an Aladdin-inspired name and tell your partner you wanted the pup to bring some "magic" to your life? If it's a boy, Aladdin (laddie for short) or Rajah or if a girl, Jasmine or Genie (even though the character is male, it is a girly name).

Or, you could be silly and call it Donald Dach(shund) or Daisy Dach(shund).

I can think of many more--pet naming is fun!! :) Congrats and good luck!

My first cat I owned all my own (when I was first out of college) I named Sebastian, after the crab in Mermaid. I just like the name. And it seemed to fit him well................P

We just got a black and tan mini daschund two weeks ago. Her name is Daisy.

You are all so creative and helpful! Thank you. You have already given me more suggestions than I could have thought of in a month of Sundays. I'm trying to be super creative here because she is such an imaginitive person. Perhaps that is why she loves Disney so much.

In any event, I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who have taken your time or will take your time to help me with this. I appreciate it so much!

Here are some more...

Stitch! (or Lilo)
Chernabog
Fantasia
Fidget
Olivia
Basil
Koda
Kiara
Kovu
Trusty / Jock/ Lady / Tramp
Esmeralda
Clopin
Elionwy
Bianca
Nala
Figment

a few I forgot...

Gurgi
Ratigan

for a longer name you could call him/her

___your partner's name_____'s Nightmare Fantasmic

or

Figment's Dreamfinder

Do you know what her #1 favorite Disney movie is? That would be really special to her I bet.

(I dunno if you could find this - but we bought our dog a Disney collar and tag...the tag is in the shape of a mickey head..we never did get around to getting her name on it - but we will eventually! heheh)

also - I've seen Disney water/food dishes at target! (we bought ours in Disney - same price belive it or not) we have pooh and friends for water, mickey and friends for food)

I bought Jazz (that's her below) "Mickey Parts" squeak toes - mickey pants/hands. she had them for 2 minutes before the mickey hand was flippin' me the bird. heheheh

Let's see. . . Mickey, Minnie, Tinkerbelle, Copper, Duchess, Lady, Flower, Bambi, Ariel, Belle, Nemo, Koda, Simba, Nala, Nana, Max, Boo, Pongo, Perdita, Meeko. . . the possibilites are endless. That's all I can think of right now but I'm sure someone else can think of quite a few more. Have fun. We are talking about getting smaller dogs in the future and the Dachsund is one that we were considering too.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw it was a dashound......"Slinky Dog", a character from Toy Story.

We have had a few pets with Disney inspired names. My Cocker Spaniel's registered name was Ariel Aurora Star. We had a cat :cat: named Sebastian too. (We love The Little Mermaid)

Does anyone recall the name of the dashund in Lady & the Tramp??

Was it Fritz? I forget. He was cute though.

I second the Disney pet Supplies. Call Disney merchandise if you have to. The stuff they make is GREAT.

My dog has the water dish with all the Disney dogs on it, as well as the Pluto tin for holding treats (comes filled with bite sized training treats), the Pooh & Tigger leash and collar set (though I think they would be too small for a dashund, they ended up being too small for Monty, a jack russell). He has the rubber bone Mickey toys and the Mickey Ears Radial tire.

These toys were inexpensive and I kid you not, are the only toys from Monty's early days that still survive. He DESTROYS toys and he has not been able to rip though these at all. They are his favorites.

I also got him the "My Human Went to Disneyworld and all I got was this Lousy Bandana" banada too.

I got all of these things at The World of Disney in Downtown Disney. I have seen the Pooh leashes and the rubber bone toys at Target.

One of my all time favorite movies is "The Ugly Dachsund"
I THINK it's Disney movie-- anyone know for sure??
It's so funny, the husband and vet sneak a great dane puppy into a litter of doxies (that belongs to the wife) and the poor dog is always trying to do what his little brothers and sisters do!! That would have a ton of disney dachsund names.... let me see is I can find it and make sure it's disney!

We are big Disney and Halloween fans so we named our dog after the dog in Disneys Nightmare before christmas movie

Yes, it is a Disney Film with Dean Jones and Susanne Plesette. The Dane's name was Brutus.

Yes it is a Disney movie and it is one of my favorites. The Doxxie's name is Danke. We have a Great Dane that looks just like Brutus but we named him Hercules, it fits him perfect. Hercules would be cute for a Doxxie to, I always think it's funny to see a little dog with a big bad name. LOL
