I'm going to be starting an exercise program next week....but i need some help coming up with one. Can anyone help out some? This is basically what i'd like to do:

3/4 times a week at the gym: some cardio for about 30 min (including warm up and cool down)

weight training to strengthen and tone (should i do these the same days??)

I really want to only go to the gym on mon, wed and fri.
Hmm or maybe mon tues, thurs fri.....

I also have a beginning yoga and pilates dvds at home i could do. How can i incorporate these????

I have to admit i'm a little disappointed in the WISHers here....I also posted this on the community board, have several responses already. Isnt this supposed to be the place where we help each other?? :confused3

Hi Iansmomm

Don't give up on WISH just yet. Having been on this board for a while, I've notices posts tend to come in waves. Monday seems to be a popular day for people to check in and update their progress. Tuesday's for some reason seem to be a down day for posts. Give it a couple of days and hopefully you will get some more response.

I am not in a regular exercise routine right now but I think I remember hearing that when you are just starting out you don't want to do hard cardio and hard strength training in the same day. Focus on one or the other. One day do heavy strength training and only light cardio. The next do heavy cardio and light strength.

I'm sure you will get some better responses and hopefully by bumping this up it will help you get them.

I find that I do much better at classes if I am going to the gym. Find out what classes are offered and try to fit them into a schedule. For me the hour goes by alot quicker when you are with other people. I do *cardio-sculpt* classes that incorporate both cardio and strength training. After a few months of those, I figured out what kinds of strangth exercises I can do at home with just small weights.

My schedule now is
M - Spin class at the gym (training for a triathlon or I would never spin)
T- Cardio Sculpt
W - Fusion class (a strength yoga class) and an interval run of 3-4 miles
Th - Off! I need a day to recoup
F - A combo strength / cardio workout with handweights and bands
Sa - Long Slow Run (keep heartrate down, work on endurance)
Su - Swimming (the tri again) and a low impact class right afterward

I have been doing most of this off and on, but I am trying to get refocused and concentrate on the exercise. I can pm you a copy of my Friday workout if you like. The *lingo* is wrong I am sure, but it is in such a way that I can remember it.

good luck! Let us know how it goes.
