I need to do a quick paint job on my kids bathroom. I keep thinking up color schemes, then I remember that the bathtub is that lovely 1980s country blue color. The floor is generic beige tile.

We won't discuss the fact that it is currently painted yellow with kelly green accents. I will try to add a picture later, I thought I had one on my phone but don't.

What color would you put on the walls and cabinets?

It sounds like someone put an awful lot of effort in to come up with yellow and kelly green -- are you sure you are willing to gamble on what's bound to pale in comparison?

What color is the shower tile? Will cream or some type of a gray with blue undertones in it possibly work?

I really think it's likely the yellow with kelly green will trump anything else. How could it not?

My parents have that bath tub! Also a blue toilet. Cabinets are painted in a similar blue.

While I'm not a fan of blue bathtubs, I do really like the color blue.

What color is the toilet? What color is the sink? Does the wall around the tub have any tile? What color is the trim - the baseboards, the door, etc?

Depending on the shade of blue of the tub (& the color of the toilet & sink, I might paint the walls blue - this way, too, the tub would more blend in instead of sticking out. But not a baby boy blue, more of a sea blue or a blue w/ gray undertones.

I'd paint the cabinetry black.

I think a black cabinet w/ blue walls would look sharp w/ the beige floor tile - depending on some of the other things mentioned above.

The tub is one of the one piece fiberglass thingy's that goes to the ceiling, it's all the same color. It is truly awful. One of many things that we just shake our heads and wonder what the previous owner was thinking.

I can't use to dark of a color, there's no window, so no natural light.

Edited to add - thankfully, the toilet is white.

Toilet is white, sink is the same lovely blue, I'm drawing a blank on the countertop but I think it's yellow with a lovely green backsplash made out of baseboard molding. I'm going to hit up the restore this week to see if I can't find a new sink.

I'll have to do something with the countertop as well, but it's a funky shape. Luckily, I think it's just painted plywood. I think I'm going to repaint it for now. There is no $$$$ to do anything but paint right now so replacing it isn't possible. We are going to gut and reno the whole house in a couple of years so I'm trying to tame this monstrosity without putting any real money into it.

Ok, not the best pictures, but you get the idea. Ignore the messy countertop, my kids are pigs.

I totally had that bathtub in my first house! Along with a matching sink and toilet - they had chosen a lovely wallpaper with pink and blue birds to accompany it. LOL

Personally I'd go with a real light beige that matches the floor tile and call it a day.

But on a side note - in my current house we had a peach tub (what were people thinking in the 80s?) and we just had it refinished/glazed/painted for $350 and it is now a nice white. It was annoying to have it glazed because the smell was so bad for a day or two, but I consider it money well spent.

Oh my. I'd paint the cabinets dark brown, paint the walls a medium mocha color, find an ivory shower curtain with blue and tan accents (but mostly ivory). Paint the countertop a light tan color.

white or a light gray with blue undertones

This bathroom is the freaking gift that keeps on giving. I checked the area where the paint is peeling and found %&##_#^$&&$#; wallpaper. Slapped up on bare drywall like every other piece of wallpaper in this house. Guess I'm skim coating yet another wall.

I really do not like wallpaper.
