We are on the Eastern cruise and was wondering what dinner rotation we want so we will be in Parrot Cay on Pirate night and at Lumieres or Animators Palate on formal and semi formal nights? I thought I read APL but that would put us in Parrot Cay on Formal night which is Sunday so I am confused.

we had APT on the 4 day cruise and it was very nice I liked having Tritons on the last night.

It doesnt matter! You are going on a cruise. Who cares? I am so jealous, I want to go back and I will take ANY dining rotation!

Just FYI, we have PLAPLAP and it was nice on the Eastern because we had the fanciest place (Lumieres) on Formal night, and Parrot Cay on the Pirate Night. But don't stress about it.

Have a great time! I am soooo jealous!

How about the 7-night Western cruise with two boys, 10 and 6? APLAPLA? Is that right? I would like to be in Parrot Cay for pirate night and the nicer ones for semi and formal nights.

Also, which night to do Palo??

Thanks.

so can you tell me? if I can choose my rotation on the ship? IF so how do I go about doing it? Is there a special desk to go to?

We are on a 4 night as well.

thanks!

you can actually pick your rotation?
NO you can't pick your rotation, you can only request one. There are some exceptions however: if you are in a cat 1, 2 or 3 suite I believe you can pick. If you book the REAS package you can request a rotation and pick a night for Palo.

OK, I've reread the following and it sounds way more harsh than it's supposed to. I'm just on my soapbox. :cool1:

I don't understand all of the obsession that almost everyone places on the dang dinning rotation. You're not shopping for food, you're not cooking or cleaning either. So what if you're in Parrot Cay and dressed to the nines in a gown and tux - so is "everyone else" you are with. If you are dressed up as a pirate and are in Lumieres or Tritons, guess what, so is everyone else.

So far I have only remember hearing one good reason for wanting a particular rotation (and I don't remember what it was), but being in the "correct" dinning room on the correct night doesn't cut it for me.

Bottom Line: Just remember, you have a 33% chance of getting the rotation that you want (way better odds than any lottery!!) The way I see it if you want to be in a formal room on Formal or Semi Formal night, then your odds are bumped way up to 66% because there's Lumieres/Tritons AND Animators Pallate (its formal because the room and chairs are black and white).[/b]

On the 7-night Western you want APL so you will be in Lumieres on Monday and Thursday which are formal night and semi-formal night respectively.

You will also be in Parrot's Cay on Wedneday for Pirates night but alot of people stayed in Cozumel so it was pretty empty that night. And my kids were doing their own thing so it was just my DH and me with our red bandanas.

And I was able to change my rotation from PLA table 55 to APL table 59 when I boarded. I did it in Rockin D Bar while I was signing up for Palos dinner and brunch.

Palo dinner is best on Tuesday but we did it at 6:00 on Sunday and had the best view of the Key West sunset (March 05). Brunch on Thursday is good and worth every moment.

Also, you may be able to get a second dinner at Palos on Friday but you have to keep asking.

As others have said, any rotation is fine. I think the most important thing is having fabulous table mates which we did!!!

Have fun.

I agree with jrabbit, it isnt like your going to McDonalds one night & _______ insert favorite upscale restraunt the next night. I really did not notice much difference between them besides the light show at AP & that was only the first night.

First, I know that any rotation is fine, but I certainly would prefer to be in Lumiere's on formal night and in Parrot Cay on pirate night, so why not ask?

Question is, we are booked on the Oct. 14 2006 Costa Maya sailing with two stops at Castaway Cay... anyone have any idea whether APLAPLA, which apparently is the correct rotation for 7 night western sailings, will be the right rotation on our sailing?? Is the correct rotation different on the traditional eastern and western sailings?

We just returned from the Western. We had the 2nd seating of APLAPLA and it was perfect. We were in Lumiere's for both the formal and semi-formal, and Parrot Cay for pirate night. We did Palo's on Tuesday after Grand Cayman and that worked well for us. That was our second night in Animator's Palate, so we didn't miss the show.

PPFQP - Thanks. I'll have to write that one down. I'm sure you had a great time. Can't wait for our cruise. I'm going to have to be a little more patient since ours isn't until May 2006!!! I'm going to bust by then. Hey, maybe I'll hit the lotto!!! Yeah, right!!!

Thanks again.

No, not really. You can "request" a certain rotation but there is no guarantee that you will get it. Once onboard some folks go to the dining changes venue and ask for certain rotations....
