Hi everyone,

I booked our trip many months ago (3 nights at WL, then move to YC for 6 nights). With all the excitement about the 4/3 deal, I called CRO this morning to see what they could do for me. The CM (nice guy) told me that all I needed to do was change our last night at the WL to the YC. So now it's 2 nights at WL, and 7 nights at YC (with the last 3 free). Sounds fine to me so far.

Then I ask him about the park tickets. He said that I could add a few days to them (we'll also add park hopper and water park options). But here's where I'm scared....he said they are 'tied' to the YC ressie, but I can pick them up at the WL as early as 3 days before my YC ressie (we check into the WL 2 days before the YC ressie). He said he made this same arrangement for many other people. He said he 'made a note' on the WL and YC ressies that I would pick up the tickets at the WL check-in.

Am I going to get to the WL and not have park tickets? My kids will flip out if they can't get to the parks for a couple days ....I'll flip out more!.

Thanks, Karen

Im leaning towards youre boned. You cant get the tickets before your second res is activated at check in.

I would call back and confirm with another CM that is possible. If all else fails - ask to speak with a manager (I had to do this the other night) and get their word and their name!

Good Luck. I hope it works.

Sounds scary to me too! I wouldn't belive it either. Hope someone can help you out! It's none of my business, but could you do the 7 nights at YC first and end at WL, then you would already have your tickets from the YC ressie? Just a thought :goodvibes

I will call CRO again and talk with someone else.

Do you think I should try and call the YC and/or the WL since they would be the people attempting to give us the park tickets before checking into the YC?

Thanks, Karen

Sandymandr,

yes I was going to try that initially when I called CRO. But the CM told me I didn't need to. I prefer to do the WL first, since we like to go to the MK at the beginning of the trip and Chef Mickey for my son's bday (2nd day of trip). The CM also said it would be easier to just switch one night (YC for the WL).

Anyways, I'll call a few places, then I might try and make the switch...of course, if there's no availabilty, I'm up the creek.

Honestly they have nothing to do with it, they wont even talk to you about your res, theyll tell you to call the res center

Wow...they won't even talk to me? That's too bad. I'll try CRO right now and see what they say. Perhaps, I can get the resorts reversed.

It stinks that there is no way to get a 'correct answer'. One CM will say one thing and one will say another, and you just don't know who is right and who is wrong.

-Karen

well theyll talk to you but theres not a lot they can do, they wont even have your info until about 5 days prior. Everything goes through cro

I am in the same situation as you, except instead of WL/YC we're staying AKL/Poly. I was told I couldn't get the passes early -- that I'd have to buy tickets separately for the first couple of days.

The CM I spoke with wasn't the most knowledgeable. I've had to call and correct things a couple of times. I would love to hear what you find out!!!

I was planning to just buy a 10-day hopper at the beginning of our trip, and I am purchasing 1-day base tickets for the 4/7 deal.

I really hope your CM was correct -- I'd love not to waste $$$ on the extra tickets.:)

Hi mmmears,

I just got off the phone with CRO. This time I talked to another nice CM named Ernest. He put me on hold and checked with Guest Services. He said GS said I could definately get my tickets 3 days before my package started (check-in to the YC). He told me that perhaps the WL could give me the tickets, but I could DEFINATELY get them at any Guest Services on site. He said I could do this because the two resorts are both on-site resorts.

So I upgraded my tickets to add 2 more days (now they are 9 day tickets) and added park hoppers and water parks.

mmmears, you should call back and have the CM talk to Guest Services while you wait on hold. Let me know if you get the same answer I did.

If I can't get the tickets at the WL, it will be worth it to take the boat over to MK to get them. I could wait until we go to MK the next morning, but we have a breakfast with the princesses that morning at 8:10 and I don't want to risk an issue on that morning. I could spend time resolving it after our WL check-in and dinner at Chef Mickey's when we arrive at Disney on our first night.

Good luck and let me know how it goes,
Karen

Wow. That goes against anything I have ever heard or read too. :confused3
My understanding has always been you could not have tickets early from a res the tickets were against. The tickets did not take effect until check in.
Now if you have two sets of tickets on two different packages, that I could understand.
He said GS said I could definitely get my tickets 3 days before my package started (check-in to the YC).
That still surprises me. :confused3
I would definitely make sure you have a back up plan and have all the names of who told you what and when.
Not to say things could not have changed. This is one I have not heard before as the truth. But I can't say I have ever had this from personal experience. So could always be wrong.... I would just be leery if someone told me that.

SnowWhiteIsDreaming,

I just read your post. I will definitely call tomorrow and let you know what I find out. This would certainly save us $225 plus tax, which would really help us out alot! We'll be at AKL, so it will harder for us to get to Guest Services, but it'll be worth it to save all that money.

I am surprised by their answer, but really it should work this way. We shouldn't be penalized for wanting to stay a few extra days (and give WDW more of our $$$) before our 7-day package.

I'm new to all of this since we've never bought a package before, just made room only discounts. The packages just aren't as useful with us split-stay vacationers!

Look at it the other way, whats to stop someone from staying lets say 3 days before their package starts and disney gives them their tickets early. They go to the parks for 3 days then cancel their package either losing $200 of filing with their ins. company and disney loses out on ~$600 or so worth of ticket revenue.

Never thought of that or that I could do that. Wouldn't there be a cancellation penalty (I would think all ofthe $$$ since it was 2 days out for us). We're just trying to find a way to spend more time and $$$ at WDW in one trip -- for us the flights to MCO are too long and too costly to go often so we try to stay for a long time when we do go.

Do you think we'll be able to get the tickets early? (and, no, we wont be leaving after 2 days).

I just read a trip report (sorry, forgot whose) and they did just that!

They went to Guest Services at the theme park, and got their tickets early.

So, I think you can do it!

It's great to know this!!!

I'd really like to know, too, if this is possible. I just changed our AKL/WL stay to WL only b/c I thought I couldn't do this... :confused3

I found this yesterday on Deb Wills web site under planning/tickets/ticket faq.
This says you can do this if you stay in the same hotel for both the package and the room-only. From what Guest Services told my CRO guy, this also works if you stay at any on-site resort...which makes sense to me.

mmmears,
There are two Guest Relations/Services at the AK (one on the outside of the park and one on the inside) so it shouldn't be too difficult for you to go to when your at the AKL.

happymommy,
That's great that you found a trip report where someone did that! Thanks for that info. It's nice to hear that someone has done this successfully.

I booked a package with Disney that includes multiday MYW tickets but I will be there several days before my check in date, staying offsite. Is there anyway I can use those tickets before I arrive at the Disney resort?

If you are staying off site, then you are out of luck. If you are staying at the same Disney resirt as your package, then yes there is. In the past, package tickets were tied solely to your check in date and could only be encoded onto your resort ID. Not so now. Your MYW tickets can be obtained up to 3 days prior to your check in date at Guest Relations or up to 3 days prior at your resort's Lobby Concierge. You must have continuing reservations (example: a seven day trip with a three day reservation not on the package followed immediately by a four day reservation on the package AT THE SAME RESORT ONLY) to do this. You will only be able to receive paper tickets when doing this and they cannot be transferred to your resort ID at any time.

But a word of warning on this: the procedure to do this is not widely known by all CMs and does entail a little extra effort on their part. It's very time consuming and complicated to do. Don't be surprised if you are told no. Ask the CM to check with their supervisor if they say they cannot do it. Currently, this is a case of some CMs can and will do it while others can't/won't.
