I've been wanting to go to WDW for awhile now. Hubby says that we'll go when we have kids, because there is nothing there for him. Obviously he's never been! We are going to be in another part of Florida and I've convinced him to add days to our trip and go. We are going to have three nights/two days. The first day we'll probably only have time for a late dinner, but then two full days. I was to make this a memorable time and romantic. DH thinks WDW is for kids, but I want to show him the adult side of it (not that we're not big kids anyway)!

I haven't been to WDW in probably ten years, so I'm clueless. I definitely want to have a romantic dinner one night and see the fireworks. I have also heard illuminations mentioned. Is that related to the fireworks? What is the most romantic ideas that I can pack in two days?

Thanks,
Carla

My DH and I also do not have kids yet. We spent our honeymoon in WDW and we are trying to get a couple more trips in before we have kids. I have been reading Walt Disney World without Kids Birnbaum's 2001 and Walt Disney World for Couples for my ideas of what to do. The "without kids" book tells you some attractions that are must dos for adults as well as kids.

There are all kinds of tips in here... for example you mentioned that you would like to do a romantic dinner. Well, there is always Victoria and Alberts, but that is $80 a person. I think a less expensive and personally more romantic idea that the "without kids" book suggests for those staying at the Polynesian is a moonlite dinner on the beach. They say it can be requested through room service. I would look at your library and see if you can get these books. I liked them so much I bought them. :D

You might want to try Victoria and Albert's in the Grand Floridian. I have never eaten there, but it is suppose to be a very intimate, seating only 45 people.

All the servers work in man/female pairs and each calls themselves Victoria and Albert. There is only one seating nightly at 7-7:45. I've read many books on Disney and all have raved this restaurant as the best, although I can't give 1st hand experience of it. It's not really my type of restaurant. It is very expensive though. If you'd like to make reservations you can call 407-939-3463.

I hope you have a great time!

I'm going to check out those books! We aren't staying at the Poly because we got the $49 rate at the All Star. The other restaurant sounds a little too pricey for us. Plus I could never get my husband to wear anything but jeans or shorts. Thanks for your ideas though.

Carla :)

Sometimes it only takes a little Disney Magic to bring them around. During one of my trips my husband had a quest to see how many Princesses he could have his picture taken with. He did pretty good, but I think Jasmin was his favorite or was it Pocohontas. My husband is a jeans and shorts kind of guy and if I took him to a stuffy place to eat he wouldn't enjoy it. I took him to Artist Point once and he didn't like the atmosphere at all. But yet he loves Chef Mickey, especially when Minnie flirts with him (when Mickey isn't looking). There is so much to do at DW with no kids. I think our last 14 trips have been with no kids and they have been the most relaxing. We will be heading there next month for 2 weeks with no kids again. (But we are taking the grandson in July)we do different things (that we like) with him, like eat at all of the Character meals. Have fun, that's the most important thing to do!

Not a romantic dinner but you fit right in in jeans!
My family loves the Hoop-Dee-Doo. It is a dinner show held at Pioneer Hall at the campground. You could try and get reservations for your first night there then watch the fireworks from the beach at Fort Wilderness. We have also taken the IllumiNations Cruise. You take a pontoon boat out to watch the fireworks and laser show at EPCOT. It ran about $125.
You do not need to pay a park admission for either of these.

I agree about the Hoop-dee-doo!! It is not "romantic", however, it is a good time for down-to-earth people. We went to both the Hoop-dee-doo and the Luau on our honeymoon and my DH wants to do the Hoop-dee-doo again. He has said nothing about doing the Luau. Everyone has their own tastes, but my husband loves his jeans too! ;)

Hhhhmmm....
consider the following:
dinner for two on the balcony of the Rose & Crown at twilight and linger on for Illuminations
margaritas and candlelight at the San Angel Inn
swinging in a hammock at your resort
strolling hand in hand along the Sassagoula
a moonlight dip a deux back at your resort
etc....
Really, there are loads of romantic opportunities out there, if only you're so inclined.... :)

DH and I celebrated our 12th anniv. So romantic!

We don't have children, and DH went because he thought I would enjoy it, now he is a WDW junkie!

I can't tell you from a mothers perspective, but I think unless your children are 8 yrs old or older, I would be very skeptical about taking them on such a strenuous adventure. We saw so many wiped out kiddos that if we ever do have kids we will leave them with Nana or wait until they are older to visit!

Another thing you might want to do is order the planning video from WDW for adults. If your husband sees that, he won't be able to wait to go!!!
