EGADS! I went to call to make deposit and I mentioned hubby really loved VWL and I was told I could get it after being on hold for a few minutes. Threw me off!
I could really use your opinions as I'm calling back before 4 with the deposit! :)

BCV will be December use year. Good for us since we will be traveling in December, April and then in the summer.

VWL will be February use year. Could cause problems if we ever need to cancel, especially the December trip.

Hubby really loves WL and so do I. It is close to MK. We have two small kids so we'll be at MK more often for quite some time.

BCV is in the middle of it all, walk to Epcot and then there is SAB! Kids will like that and then so will our grandkids in the far, far future?!? LOL
And when we're old we can push our walkers over to Epcot and sit on our butts and eat, too. ;)

I've also noticed WL often has discounts that are pretty good, unlike the BC. (We are planning on staying in studios for awhile so I could kinda compare this to a regular room.) Seems like more of a deal for BCV?
If we bought VWL we could possibly have stayed in a room at WL for much less. Doesn't seem like that much of a deal?

I just need some help! LOL

I'm gonna try to post a poll. Hopefully I can get it to work right.

Thanks!

How many points are you buying, we own at both and love it. If you are buying more than 150, you could purchase more than one resort.

Good luck! You can't go wrong either way.

Both are beautiful resorts, and I wouldn't mind owning either of them. That being said, I am biased. I am huge VWL/WL fan so I voted VWL. Depending on how many points you are buying, the smart decision may be to buy both. With banking and borrowing, you can alternate.

Good luck with your decision.....

It all depends on where you plan on staying most of the time. Or more importantly, where you'd be most comfortable staying. I own at VWL and it is my favorite DVC resort. Again, this is a personal thing. I've never stayed at BCV, but have stayed at the YC. I do like the whole Boardwalk atmosphere and think it's a nice place to hang out. but I LOVE the VWL. I personally like their pools a little better. The sand bottom does bother me a little, and the pool is just SO HUGE, I worry about the safety of my children since I wouldn't always be able to see them. I like the tranquility of VWL, since when I'm there, I sort of forget I'm in WDW. Again, a personal thing. Now, I'm not knocking BCV, it is a BEAUTIFUL resort, and we are going to stay there in July. THere is no place else to stay on WDW property except VWL during the Christmas season, unless you count the GF in my opinion. I understand your hesitation based on use year, since you'd have a Feb and that would be too conducive for cancelling a Dec trip on short notice. I'd first think about where you ahd DH would like to stay all of the time if you had to. Pick which one both of you would feel the most comfortable with. Either is a GREAT resort with its plusses and minuses. For us, it's VWL . P.S. We also have a Feb use year!!!!

Maybe, your question should be: Which resort should I buy first, and which one will I add-on later? ;)

With little kids, VWL is the way to go and if you will be staying over Xmas, there is no better resort for atmoshpere. The boat to the MK is the seller here. You can avoid the monorail, and go back to the resort for a rest and return to MK later in the day. As I said before, we own at both. We returned in Jan from our 1st stay ad BCV. We love it, but with a 5,3, 6mo kids we missed the lodge for the MK advantage.

I am closing this week on VWL with a February Use Year. We had the same tough decision but with the ages of our kids (4 and 1.5) the convenience of VWL to the Magic Kingdom won out. We were only able to afford 150 points so we had to choose. I still hope to do a BCV add on in the future so we can enjoy the pool when the kids are a little older. VWL is my husbands favorite and this is what sold him on DVC. Good luck!

It looks like you're swaying more towards VWL, and since both you and your husband agree that you like it...go with what your gut instinct tells you!!! Also, you may not always travel in December so use year may become a moot point later on down the line.

is Dec UY completely sold out for VWL?

can you possibly buy a main 150pt BCV contract, and then add-on some more points at VWL?

i would caution against buying a Feb UY.
that would make all your Xmas trips very risky if you should ever need to cancel your trip last minute.

carefully ask yourself: is it important to me to be able to cancel my trip last minute if i should need to, and still be able to bank most of my points, or have extra time to use up my points?

with a Feb UY, let's say you book your Xmas trip this year.
then something unexpected happens in the beginning of November, and you need to cancel your trip. you would only be able to bank 25% of your points.
you could not bank the other 75% of your points. those points will expire at the end of Jan 2004, so you will have from Nov 2003 to Jan 2004 to use them or lose them.

or worst case scenario, something happens in Dec the week before your trip, and you need to cancel.
all the points you used on that ressie go into a holding account.
you only have the rest of Dec '03 and Jan '04 to use up those points or you lost them.

with a BCV Dec UY, if you cancelled in the beginning of November, all your points are restored back into your account. and you have the whole year to use those points again. or you can bank 100% of them into next Use Year.
if you cancelled the week before your trip, your points go into a holding account. BUT, you have all year to use them up. much better, right?
of course w/ a BCV Dec UY, you might get "stuck" staying at BCV.

so, ask yourself, which is worse: being "stuck" staying at BCV... or losing flexibility in terms of being able to cancel trips last minute.

also, how certain are you that you will often want to travel to WDW in Decembers?

i guess what i'm saying is basically, don't forget to consider that buying VWL will mean buying a different Use Year. just how important Use Year is to your family is up to you.
hope this helps! good luck!
