Hi,

We are thinking about renting points, but before we do we need to make a choice between BLT and GV. We will rent a studio, it's just me and my husband. At this moment we found a broker who rent out for 20 dollars a point. For BLT only prefferd view available so the price difference is around 240 dollars. Not big. If this broker doesn't have Grand, the price gab wil be 600 dollars.

It's for 7 nights, in October. We will try to get tickets for Halloweenevent.

At this moment Pro for Grand is the atmosphere, the freestyle machines, the decor of the Resort Room, the boat ride to MK
At this moment Pro for Bay lake, 1 bed so more space, a real fridge, brand new, cheaper

Help us out! After BLT/GF we will go to beach (booked already) for 6 nights.

Thank you for your advice

First you might check the individuals here who rent points and might find it's lower cost. But that's another topic.

if you've never stayed there, VGF is pretty nice. However, I find Riviera to be "nicer". I think BLT is really good if you're doing the Mickey's not so scary party, you can walk there and back if you want. Also, having brand new refurb is always nice and BLT has some really good food options and the skybridge to contemporary as well.

Personally, I'd probably do BLT, you can also take a boat to MK from BLT (Contemporary). The walk isn't bad at all though. Plus you'd get more space and save money.

We have stayed at beach before (free upgrade from pofq to beach vlclub level last april) and now we stay again in beach. Therefore Riviera isnt really an option because we want to be close by MK.

We had contact with someone to rent his points. When we did pay them, our bank called us, that this was a scammer and they would hold our money. So we are a little bit scared to go without a broker. Plus I think, 20 points for grand or bay like isnt that much isnt it? Or can we do cheaper?

I can't really speak to the price point. I regularly see $18 or so per point, but $2 a pt isn't much for piece of mind if you feel better IMO.

We love crescent lake and I try and always stay at Boardwalk Villas as it's my favorite of all the resorts. We do Epcot and Hollywood a lot. We also love Beach Club, can't go wrong with either.

For your requirements and cost I think BLT would give you more space, save you money and you can walk (10min) to MK. It's pretty nice to walk and not have to wait on busses or water taxi after the Halloween party. It's about .5 miles.

Plus brand new refurb.

Yeah we tried Boardwalk or Beach. We love the food in Epcot.
The restaurant in Canada and Japan is by far our favorite. We did those both twice last April. Plus we loved the sweet popcorn (we dont do salt pppcorn overhere and we dont like it sorry!)

Yeah it will be 146 points for blt and 158 for grand. Just the 2 of us so a studio is more then enough! Did you rent often from here?

I am a DVC member now so I don't have to. I did rent from a broker in the past though and I have not used someone from here on the rental forum because by the time I learned of it, I had my own points.

Yes we also love the food, we especially love Food and Wine and you'll be there for that. The nation booths are so good.

My wife loves the Canada booth with the little steak and mashed potatoes and the pretzel and cheese soup.

Where do you all live? You mentioned "over here".

$20 a point sounds very reasonable as these are both popular resorts for the parties and you are booking in the 7-11 month window when those that own at a resort can book first.

When you say a pro for BLT has 1 bed are you comparing that to a Resort Studio at VGF?

With the exceptions of OKW all DVC Deluxe Studios have 1 Queen Bed and a pull out couch including BLT & VGF.
OKW has 2 queen beds in its deluxe studio.

The Resort Studios at VGF have 2 queen beds and a daybed couch. They are pretty new and are surprisingly spacious and MUCH larger than a BLT deluxe studio.

Location can't be beat at BLT as it is just a quick stroll home or the first stop off the monorail at the end of the night but if you are looking for theming I would probably go with VGF.

Yeah we had the Flower Festival and they had good food too!

Over here is The Netherlands, the most flat country of the world!

We had thought this year of buying dvc, but didnt know which resort yet. But maybe we will do it next year! We had a meeting last year of an hour and that was good! They even gave us a 200 dollar spendingcheck after that our. That was great too!

Yeah, the Deluxe studio for the period we want to go is sold out. So the Resort studio it is
But the broker just send is an email back, they have no renter at this moment for grand. They do have for BLT so I guess we must go for BLT. We had emailed them back that we would go for Grand...

If you were to get a refurbished room at BLT They have removed the table and chairs across from the pull out Couch.

@Jeffrey&Esther

You might also consider the Deluxe Studios in the longhouses at Poly. Those and the deluxe studios at VGF have 2 showers so you both can get ready at the same time.

You might find somebody that owns Grand Flo or Poly points on the Rental Board.

Just note that you have to have 10 posts before you can send a private message about rentals so you are almost there at 8 :)

What is pvb? I dont know that one. (Sorry we are from the Netherlands)

Yeah when we go, blt will be finished with refurbishing. The Deluxe studios at grand are already gone. Only resort studio is availble in GF.

No problem. We have lots of shortcuts here and it is hard to keep track even if you are from the states.

PVB = Polynesian Villas and Bungalows.

They just built a new tower that has studios there but they are much smaller than the original ones that are in what they refer to as longhouses.

Ha, thats why I couldnt.
You think we dont get ready at the same time? 😉 we still like each other do much that we love to shower together. Dont tell anyone 😉

You are referring to the duo studio, which are much smaller, but at the tower there are studios with a queen bed and a murphy too. They also have a dishwasher, but only one bathroom (like almost all studios in DVC, except the older studios is the longhouses which have a full bathroom and a shower room).
If theming is important, I'd go with Poly, a standard studio in the longhouses. BLT convenience is incredible for MK and lake views are nice, but I find the theming at bit sterile.

The original Poly longhouse studios have a queen bed, a Murphy bed, and a small twin size Murphy bed for a smaller person. Plus almost 2 bathrooms, it is split. One has a tub/shower combo, sink, and the toilet, the other bathroom has a sink and a walk in shower. These studios are not in the Poly Tower, they are at the "original Poly".

We didnt like the theming too and a little bit dark. We loved the resort studio for theming at grand. But I guess thats because I am in love with Marry Poppins.

Only thing is, the broker just send an email that they dont have enough points at this moment for grand. They do have for blt. So I think we have to go for blt...

With the exception of one weekend in October there are plenty of Mary Poppins rooms available at the Villas at Grand Floridian (VGF)

Your broker may find you an owner at VGF to book the nights for you or you can look at the board sponsor, dvcrentalstore.com or the rental section here on dis boards.
