we should splurge on.

A little background. We are going to be in Disney World January 8th-15th for our honeymoon :cool1: . We are on the basic DDP and I think we are going to splurge on one 2 credit restaurant/show...but I am having trouble deciding which. I keep hearing such great reviews about Narcoossee and California grill food wise/view. We are also kind of interested in one of the shows (Hoop De Doo seems to be the best?).

We are both youngish (mid-20s) and I think we would get a kick out of Hoop De Doo (we are totally doing the Princes and Pirate party if that gives you any idea). I know a few people on here said Hoop De Doo especially if you have kids. Would this still be a fun show for a young couple, or do you think we might get more out of one of the nicer restaurants?

Thanks so much for all your help!

I think Hoop De Doo is a fun show! The food is nothing fancy though. Since you'll be on your honeymoon, they'll give you a chance to have a special dance, by your table. Others celebrating will do the same. The castle may seem more romantic for your dinner and is also 2 TS. It has been a while since I've been to Narcoossee, but I remember it being great! Le Celleir and the Yachtsman are also great. One other piece of advice...go to Jellyrolls for an evening of fun! It's on the Boardwalk and you'll really enjoy it! Good luck with your planning!

I vote Hoop Dee Doo! It was fantastic. Hilarious! The food was good, although if you're doing a 2 TS stricty for the food quality, that's not the one. And it's definately NOT just for kids. We liked it more than they did. If you go on youtube, you can see some video of it, to get an idea.
We've also done Jiko, that was incredible food, and a very nice place.
We've done Brown Derby, and while it was good, it was loud, and not "wonderful". IMO, not worth 2 credits.

Hope this helps a little bit.

Congratulations! on the upcoming honeymoon.

How interested are you in the food quality? If that is high on your wish list, then I would splurge my 2 TS on Citricos... it is known as the hidden gem of find dining at WDW. I prefer it to California Grill, Brown Derby, etc!

I've never done Hoop De Doo, although I've heard that "it's a must". But we dined at Narcoossee's last November (also on the DDP) and we are so glad that we did. We loved it! The food was delicious and the view was amazing.

I actually made a late ADR. I want to say it was around 8:30ish. I did this on purpose so we'd get to see the Electical Water Pageant and the timing was perfect. But just the view of the castle and the rest of the lagoon at night was amazing.

My wife and I had dinner at Cinderella's Castle during our honeymoon. I got an ADR during the fireworks and requested a table near the window. It was very romantic and the waiter gave us 2 Cinderella Castle champagne flutes (without champagne of course). My wife loved it and it's an experience we will never forget.

Ohhh I think HDD sounds like so much fun! The food sounds yummy enough too...but the other places sound wonderful too! Maybe I can talk my Fiance' into splurging for two splurges...get the best of both worlds :)

Just knowing the two of us, I think we would appreciate HDD more than Narcoossee. I mean...the two of us are not at all used to fine dining at all. I think he will be blown away enough by Coral Reef, Le Cellier, Sci Fy Movie theatre (lol...:lmao: jk. We are going here, even though I've heard the food is nothing special...he wants to go though. I loved it enough when I was there lastime).

I should talk with him on maybe saving up DPC for two nice places. I really want to try Narcoossee. I've heard so many great things about it...

Thanks everyone for the help!

ohhh a special dance??? Like that? :rotfl: That does sound like tons of fun. I can see the two of us having a blast!

you know...that really is the question. Do we want 2 TSC for food quality or fun quality. Thanks for the hint about going to utube. We will check that out!

I'm not sure how high on the list good quality is. Citri seems to be the place to go if we want a great meal with a beautiful view. I have also never been there. It sounds like it would be so special.

What is the view like? Ohhh...that is a good tip. I bet that would be amazing to see the electrical pageant while dining :) We could handle a late dinner...hmmmm

I heard they aren't giving out the flutes any more? I can't remember where I read that though. The Castle sounds so romantic though

Since you asked, here are a few photos from the deck around Narcoossee's. Hubby and I aren't really "fine dining" people either, but every now and then, I like to introduce him to a little bit of "culture" just for the experience. But, you have to do what you think will suit you best. So if you think HDDR sounds perfect for you, do that, but keep Narcoossee's in the back of your mind as an option for a special occassion or a romantic evening on your next trip.

Wow Kell! Thanks so much! That view is amazing!

I talked to my Fiance' a little yesteday, and we both agreed that we are just going to try HDDR...maybe another year we will get to try Narcoossee.

Thanks of much for all of your help!

Sounds like us. We had talked about maybe doing the Disney Cruise. We started doing a little research on it and we saw one of the travel channel specials. Then I started thinking about all the things with love at WDW. When I mentioned that to hubby, he was almost beside himself agreeing that he just really wants to go back to WDW and it won't be the same on the cruise. He was so relieved that I said I wanted to go back.

I'll try to keep an eye out for your review of HDDR. We're on a quest to eat at different places as often as we can, so maybe that will end up on our list next time.

Judging from these pictures the castle appears much larger and closer from Cali Grill.

I think you've already answered and would be happy with HDDR. It is a great dinner show and you'll have a great time. We absolutely LOVE IT!!!

Now if you are after a quiet, sophisticated, grown-up dinner ... well, you might want to choose something else.

We also went on our honeymoon to Disney last October and had an amazing time. I am just now planning to go back in October for our 1-year. I have never tried Hoop Dee Doo but we did go to Cali Grill and Jiko for our honeymoon. The view at Cali Grill is really great, especially if you can get a reservation for around the fireworks. The food to me was just okay. Jiko was FABULOUS! The filet was the best I've ever had. If you haven't had your shower yet, you should think about registering for the Disney Honeymoon Registry. We did that and thought no one would use it but we got over $1000 worth to spend at Disney!! Also think about a couples massage at SSR or GF! Have a great time!

Jiko would have been my vote too. The fillet there is incredible and the atmosphere is amazing.
