I need some help. I'm making several magnets for FE gifts for our cruise in Sept. I have small yellow plastic star magnets and thought I would put black mickey heads on them with each person's name written above it. I have fine tip sharpies for the names but I have a small Mickey head stamp. I tried stamping the head onto the magnet but it won't dry. Does anyone have another idea for printing the head? After they dried, my plan was to spray them all with some kind of glossy acrylic so they would last. I love the plain look...black ink (name and head), yellow star magnet. Simple but really cute. (it kinda reminds me of the famous stars in the pavement ....fits right into Hollywood Studios theme.)

If anyone has ANY suggestions, please don't hesitate to respond. I've bought MANY magnets and once I've gotten an idea into my head, it's really hard for my to let it go.

Thanks!!

It is the kind of ink you are using- you need a pigment based ink- the best one out there is staz-on and they have plain black- you can probably get a coupon for Michael's/Joann's on line and then buy it for less. A pad costs about $8.00 without a coupon. The pigment inks take a little longer to dry but once they are dry the are permenant on non-porous surface(such as plastic/magnets, ect.

Thanks for the info Rebecca!!! I'm going to check it out!! I have a Michael's and a JoAnn by me.

I'm using a clear stamp. Will the acrylic stamp cleaner spray work on this ink?

Also, do you suggest a particular acrylic spray to preserve the images on the stamps??

Thanks again!!

That cleaner should work- I normally just use dish soap to wash off mine. With the pigment ink I have never needed to spray anything to keep it on the acyrilic- I use it on clear albums and pieces and once it dries it is permenant. You ahouldn't need a sprayy to keep the sharpie on either.
