Help!! Trying to pay DDP w/ disney gift cards!

I'm renting points August 07' @ OKW. The owner set up my family for the Disney Dining Plan, payable when we get to the resort. I'm looking @ buying disney gift cards thru quick rewards. Can I pay my DDP plan @ OKW with disney gift cards? Or do I have to pay w/ credit card, cash, etc?


If any DVC owners could clear this up for me, I'd much appreciate it!!

I emailed MS about doing this and they said you can pay for DDP with gift cards when you arrive at the front desk. I haven't done it yet, going in July, but maybe someone out there has.

Appreciate the info. Don't have a Disney visa, but I will have Disney gift cards that you buy at Disney stores.

I'm a prepayer and I try my hardest to pay for as much as I can ahead of time to avoid using credit.

Since I'm renting I can't pay for the DDP until I get there, but I can pay for the gift card to cover the cost of the DDP now, right?

I'm the same way. I like to know everything is taken care of before the trip.

Even DVC members have to wait until check-in to pay for the ddp. This is why I want to buy the gift cards too.

Call OKW directly. When we went in September 2006 we were told we could pay for the DDP at Boardwalk on check in with the gift cards. This was no correct. At that time the hotel front desks could not take the gift cards. I was told that they were trying to get linked into the system but only the hotel gift shops took the gift card. This is the card that can be purchased at the Disney Store.

We were at SSR the week of Feb 10 and I paid for DDP with a gift card purchased at the Disney Store. It said it was good for items at WDW as well as TDS.

It looks like I'll be calling Old Key West for confirmation. Don't want to wind with hundreds of dollars on gift cards. My daughters will find a way to spend that money on toys and princess dresses in a minute!!!!!

Mufasa's post is the first I have read of that you can use the gift cards for the DP. There have been several posts in the past where you could not. Hopefully this is a recent change. Please let us know the response from OKW. TIA

Just got off the phone with BWV and was told "YES you can use Disney Gift Cards to pay for the DDP at the front desk at check-in."

So if they accept it, then the other resorts should.

Thank you for confirming this. This is what we are planning on doing as well. Our school participates in something called GL Scrip where you can order gift cards and the school receives a % back from the company. So, I can order disney gift cards ($25, $100 or $1000 denominations) and the school gets back 7% of that! They're going to be making a lot on me this year!

I'm doing the same thing. Our school splits the % with us. We get 4% to put towards our tuition for next year and the school gets 3%. It's a great thing.

I think the confusion in the past was the Rewards Cards versus Gift Cards.

They have taken the Rewards Card for quite a while. I believe it were Gift Cards that were not accepted when some presented them at the front desk.

I would just be careful to confirm "gift cards" and get the person's name who gives you the ok. Better safe than sorry.

We paid for DDP in Jan at OKW with a gift card. It took the CM a while to do it but it worked fine.

We paid for the DDP using gift cards earlier this month. No problem at all.

Warning! Make sure you purchase the card that has Mickey Mouse on the front.

While you can use the Chase Disney CC Reward cards & the Disney Gift card you cannot use the gift certificates you can also buy @ the disney shopping site or the merchandise cards you can buy @ the Disney Stores (owned by Children's Place) in our neck of the woods.

DVC was unable to process these cards for DP when we visited early Oct.
DS & DIL were able to use beginning of January.
