Help! Tell me if I'm missing something here.....

Hi all. My family of 4 will be in WDW the first week of December this year. We are park hopping a couple of those days due to dining and other plans. FP date is early October. So far, I have in my head that I will be making FP at second park on hopping days. But, in some cases, it seems like I may be wasting a bunch of FP opportunities to do that. I haven't been since the FP system updated a few months ago, so I want to make sure I'm not missing something. I'll give an example......


One day I have us at HS early to try to sign up for JT. Figured we would just ride rides without FP. That evening, we will be eating at Biergarten. We want to get in FEA while we are here, so I thought I'd try to make that our FP for around 8ish. With the old system, I know that would be the only way. But, since it is such a popular ride, I'm thinking it is still the only thing I can do. Just seems like a waste of a bunch of FP. I have a few other days kind of like that. Mostly with EP. TT and Soarin are must do's for us too and I have us here another evening. If this is our only option, I'm good to go. Just making sure I'm understanding the new system......I know I can make hopping FP, but since it is the day of, is it pretty impossible to get the busy attractions?

When your must-do FPs are in the evening, you're limited to booking for your 2nd park.

The FP FAQ Addendum at the top of this forum has strategies for park hopping when you book 1 or 2 in the first park of the day.
