Help Solve a Wedding Debate

GO VOLS!!!!!

She might be hard pressed to find a church that it will work in for December, since most decorate for Christmas early; however, if she is getting married in a ballroom/reception hall - have at it. Very crisp looking and I can see why she would want to use it, but I don't think I could in December.

I wanted a hot coral color for my wedding - wanted it bad. Our church has burgundy carpet and very dark wood - it would have been awful and I went with emerald green in Spring. Not what I wanted, but it looked very good and I don't cringe at the pictures when I look at them.

I'm glad she's going for it!

My first wedding we chose Halloween because it was a Saturday night, and I wanted black/white/orange as my colors. White dress for me, black dresses for the bridal party. They were going to carry tiger lillies, white lillies for me. Black/white balloons white white centerpieces and black linens for the venue. I could see it in my mind and loved it...

And my mother freaked. Said it would not be elegant, not look nice, etc. But I stood my ground. And I was right. The pics were stunning, each girl looked just gorgeous in a black dress that SHE chose (they were all different but all chose velvet as it turned out), flowers were gorgeous and different. And all was well in the end.

(Everyone freaked about the date too, said I was ruining Halloween...sheesh. Those with small children who couldn't attend I understood. Family with small children invited we made sure to have fantastic baskets for them along with a basket of candy at each table for people to 'trick or treat'. Everyone had fun!)

So I say, go for it. I hope she goes with what she wants!

All I seem to post are wedding questions on the DIS; I know too many people getting married!! :lmao:

I'm in DFriend's wedding that's happening in December of 2012. She has her heart set on the color orange. Her mother and MIL to be keep telling her she can't have orange in December.

Her bridesmaids seem to be split (I'm indifferent) and now I need to know what the general population (okay, the DIS.. :rolleyes1) thinks.

So, does one have to abide by seasonal colors for a wedding?

EDIT: Picture of her "inspiration board" with the color orange she is talking about posted. :)

She can have any color she wants.

I haven't read all posts because my computer is loading slow, so hopefully I'm not repeating something everyone else is saying!

I think the bride should have what she wants and if she wants orange then go with it! Everyone thought my colours sounded funky but then commented on how well they went together (mint green, bubblegum pink and chocolate brown).

The ONLY thing I would be concerned with if I was in the bridal party would be wearing some ugly orange dress (the shade she's chosen is lovely but it probably won't look great on everyone). I would hope she's going with a silver/grey bridesmaid dress with orange flowers. That would look very elegant with the colour palette she's chosen.
