Help required with Hotels

Where did you find out about water slides at the new Homewood Suites? I do not see anything about that in their descriptions.

I asked on their FB page and this is the response I received.....Hi Leslie! Thank you for your comment. Our pool deck will no longer feature water slides. We elected to have a larger pool with a movie wall and water pop jets instead. We're sure families will enjoy these 2 new additions!

NP I have been soooo excited about the price I have been telling everyone lol I usually hate staying places where I have to pay to park but even after paying to park it is still cheaper than Park Vue which would have been our other choice, and from the maps it is literally right behind Toy Story, I have never took a parking lot shuttle so it is good to know that you don't have to really wait for a shuttle! We are staying 12 nights so a free breakfast is usually a must and the evening option we may or may not use since I have a ton of food places on my list to try but someone really wanting to save money that is also a huge plus!! And it will only have been opened less than a year when we go in June so should be pretty darn clean lol I also liked they have a room with bunk beds my kids love bunk beds so it really worked out for us! I can't hardly wait for June now!!!

I was originally going to bid on Priceline for December as we just got the Hyatt Regency OC for $85/night for next week but for a week long trip I couldn't pass up this deal.

I got the AAA rate for Dec 5th to 12th for $134/night. We are AP holders but flying in so not having to worry about parking will be nice. We love the Toy Story shuttle because it drops off at the esplanade area and when taking it back it's literally a constant stream of buses so it's VERY convenient.

To be honest, I really wanted someone to say 'Never mind the expsense, stay at a Disney Hotel you fool'! as thats what i really want to do.

The Disneyland Hotel has everything you want and more - and is totally worth the additional cost (provided it doesn't compromise too much elsewhere). I guarantee you won't regret it, the hotel is lovely, awesome pool area, Trader Sams is arguably the best bar around for miles. I save a bit harder for our trips because I love staying on site, and am happy to sacrifice things in my mudane everyday life to get that magic when on holiday. There are other bonuses being on site, especially the early entry in to the parks each day. Do it!!!

I love the DLH personally and if you do decide to do that check out Orbitz. They often have promo codes for 15% off and they apply to the Disneyland hotels. It's how we almost always book it when we decide to stay

This is why we are staying at DLH in March. It's a once in a lifetime trip for us. My husband had budgeted a certain amount of money for this portion of our trip. I'm using part of an inheritance to stay at DLH instead of Embassy Suites of Doubletree.

Oh, definitely stay at the DLH if you can swing it. You won't regret it at all!
However, if your DH puts his foot down, another place to consider is the Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel: http://www.majesticgardenhotel.com/hotel/dining
It used to be a Sheraton and the rooms have been totally redone, they look really nice. They have a bar and lounge that's open until midnight. It's not walkable but they have their own shuttle. Good luck!

We won't stay anywhere else (DLH).....I hope you stay there. The early entry especially during summer is very nice and you will love the bar.

Someone mentioned Tom's podcast. If you are still going to think about not staying at the DLH (which I wouldn't because you will SOOOOOO love it), I would really suggest you look thorough his information and give it a lot of weight. Sometimes I notice when I see people say stay at " " it wonderful, while it is wonderful and worth it for them, it wouldn't be for me and my vacation would be ruined if I did.

As I said above, I won't stay offsite, but I have really enjoyed Tom's podcasts as it give a real unbiased review of some of the motels and some really good photos. Some actually weren't as bad as I thought. And remember, most of the places on Harbor (new builds excluded) are Motels not Hotels so if that matters think about it.

DLH really does give you more of that vacation vibe than just staying at an off site hotel. I know many say it is not necessary and that is because when considering location it is not however if you are considering more things like you mentioned, I would think it is worth going for it. We have stayed off site and on in both wdw and dl. We love Disney hotels though and have stayed at many WDW hotels and 2 in Cali and I think that DCL is the most unique.

Ours was the $149 also!!! I am a little bummed they decided not to do the water slides but the pool still looks pretty big so I am sure my kids will still love it and its brand new so really not a lot of time for it to get nasty but should be enough time to work out any kinks

I am excited about the great price and especially the location. My DD deals with lots of anxiety so being right next to the Toy Story lot seems like the best location (other than directly across the street of course). Because of the inconsistancies with the amount of time they may take, having to use the ART shuttle adds stress we don't need. The hotel being new (only open 7 months by June) is a great selling feature to me too!

No discount code, how long are you booking for? We are staying for 12 nights so it was a little cheaper the longer you stay the cheaper the rates I know if you only stay a couple nights the price is $200/ night

We always stay at the Hilton at the Convention Center. The walk is doable or you can walk across Harbor to the Toy Story Lot. The pool is in the center of the towers, I'm not sure how many floors up and has a kids spray and splash area with climbing stuff and giant buckets that randomly dump water on your head and the lobby has a bar and a Starbucks. Usually has rates in the $100-$150 range depending on whether there is a convention going on.

I looked at that Hilton and read the tripadvisor reviews and a common theme was "funky smell" and feeling humid in the rooms. Have you experienced this?

Nope, not that I've noticed. The room is usually a little humid when we first get there because the air conditioner is set a bit high, but as soon as we turn it on, it's good. Maybe I'm used to how Hilton's smell?
