We will be sailing on the Dream next year and I have a quick question on the menus. I will be sailing with some picky eaters. If the menu does not look appetizing, do they offer something simple? Like just a steak and mashed potatoes? Or will we need to go outside of the sit down restaurants for some meals?

There is a section on the menu called Lighter Notes. You can view menu options here: https://disneycruiselineblog.com/menus/

I'll point out that you can also order off the kid's menu, if you want.

I highly recommend that you all dig into the menus before. You can find them all easily, here is one example:

The main dining rooms will all have a Lighter Note section where there are simple steak, chicken and salmon types of choices. Also, talk to your dining Team, let them know if you want something customized or substituted. They will bend over backwards to get you something you like. Also, if you see something in one of the other restaurants that you really want, ask your Team - they should have no problem getting it for you. Also, if you want multiple items of the same thing... just ask.

The way the menus are written make everything sound a lot fancier than it really is. The food is far from fancy. While everything is good and nothing to complain about it's just mass produced banquet food that needs to appeal to the masses. Outside of the MDR you can order room service which is very basic or get food from the pool deck. If those options work better for you it's still ok to go to the MDR for an appetizer or just dessert. They are very accommodating, just ask. I've got a favourite appetizer and always ask for it to be made larger as my main.

I order either the plain chicken breast or the plain steak with fries or white rice every night. Not a problem. The servers will know after night one what type of food you like to eat.

Our daughter was able to successfully order chicken breast, rice and vegetables (broccoli and carrot) for almost every meal (lunch and dinner). Even the times she tried something from the kids or adult menu and didn't like it, they would do their very best to prepare her "standard" meal for her.

I don't think you'll have any issues as long as the preferred meal is simple, if it's not already an option on the menu under the lighter offerings or kids menu.
