Help! Redecorating kitchen-where do I start?

Not a complete remodel. Keeping the current layout, counter, cabinets & appliances - did all that last time. Updating the flooring, window treatments, paint & wallpaper. So where do we start. Obviously everything needs to coordinate with the exisiting countertop - a gray/blue/black speckle (looks better than it sounds). So is it easier to match the walls to the flooring or the flooring to the walls?

I would go with a neutral floor so it lasts longer, then go from there. You can be as bold as you want to with paint and window coverings, they are inexpensive to change if you get sick of them.

I would match the walls and flooring to the cabinets.

I would find a fabric you like and go from there. You can pick out the wall color from the fabric. I would also go with a neutral floor, wood or tile if you can, that will last through several redecorations.

We just did a complete remodel to our kitchen as well. Granite countertops, new appliances, flooring, backsplash, the whole nine yards. We actually started with the contertops because we knew exactly what we wanted and then worked from there. I think you should start with what you think is the most important aspect of your kitchen. What one single change is going to make the most dramatic difference and go from there.

Bring lots of samples home and try all your options! Good luck and have fun with it!

Thanks. I have sample tiles on the floor & a couple of wall paper samples under the cabinets. I need more samples - can't get a good feel for a 12'x12' floor from one tile. I can change the walls myself. The floor I will leave for DH.
