We are looking a squeezing in a trip this fall, since I received the email code! :cheer2: We have never stayed on site, and so are used to staying at the parks all day. I had hoped to stay at a mod, and POR, the mansions in particular, appealled to me the most. This needs to be a bargain trip, though, and POP will cost about $300 less for the 5 night stay. Our group consists of me, DH, DS(9), and DD(7). We are not super picky, but to give you an idea, we generally stay at Marriott hotels, or Residence Inns. What should I do? Any suggestions and info will be greatly appreciated!

we loved pop! (but we also had two rooms for the four of us) my kids loved pop and dd is actually bumming that i would consider the contemporary over pop... they loved the bowling pin pool... had a great time in the arcade... found the food court to be more than satisfactory... transportation was excellent...

that being said, i'm a space snob and cannot stand to be in close quarters, which is why we got two rooms... also dh cannot share a double bed w/anyone as he sleeps diagonally (6'4" tall)... so in a room the size of pop's, we had to go for two... we toyed w/staying at a moderate for our upcoming trip (and i've got to change my ticker to reflect the switch!) and unless we stayed at POR-AB Section, we were going to go for two rooms... AB Section has the trundle bed option...

anyway, if you like your space like i do, then you might want to consider POR... if you don't mind being "close" then pop would be great... again, we loved everything about it 'cept the room size/sleeping accomodations just would not work for us in one room...

whatever you decide, ENJOY! :flower:

I would suggest POR. It is a little nicer then the values and if you are used to Marriotts then this is more in line. The Magnolia bend section of POR is wonderful and the gardens beautiful. There are several quiet pools and the main pool, a very good food court, entertainment in the lounge and a full service restaurant. Plus you have access to the amenities of POFFQ as well.
I would request Oak Manor or Parterre Place, as they are a bridge away from the main bldg.

We have always stayed deluxe or Moderate, until this trip. We just got back from Pop, and loved it.

I will always be wililng to stay at deluxe, but really did not notice a big enough difference between the moderates, and Pop Century to warrent the extra $$. It was a bit smaller, but not all that much. The table is smaller, but the beds the same size. The only real problem was no under bed storage for suitcases and shoes, but we just threw the suitcases together, and sat them in the corner, beside the vanity.

Not much counter space, but I had purchased a $1.00 plastic thing like you keep shoes in, and hung it on the rail beside the sink. Made things much less cluttered. For a buck it was easy to throw away, when we left.

We have never been as close to the food courts, and pools as we were at pop- about 1 minute to the food court, and 45 second to our choice of two pools.

Good luck and have a great trip, whatever you decide. I am hoping for a great rate for our Dec. trip. One of those emails, would do just fine!!

Make a pro and con list for both and show your kids some pics online and let them decide. Pools at the mods have slides and some rooms in the AB section of POR have trundle beds for a little more sleeping space. Mods also come with fridges.

Maybe your kids would be satisfied with a pool slide and a trip to a water park wouldn't be necessary and with a fridge it would be a bit easier to have breakfast or lunch in the room. These two things could off set the $300 and make it totally worth it.

We stayed at Pop once and at POR 5 times. Pop was fine, but ds missed not having a slide at the pool. Check-in was a breeze each time at POR. Check in at Pop was very time consuming. We did not use the buses at either resort, so I can't comment about the bus system at either. POR definately has alot more to offer. 2 theme pools(including POFQ), 5 quiet pools. A boat ride between POR, POFQ, and DTD, fishing, evening entertainment Wed-Sat. We preferred the food court at POR over the one at POP. We've stayed at most of the Disney resorts. In my opinion, POR is the closest thing to a deluxe resort, without paying deluxe prices. The determining factor for us as to where we stay depends upon how much time we plan to spend at the resort. If the majority of our time will be spent in the parks, then it makes more sense to stay at Pop. If our time would be spent mostly at the resort, then we'd stay at POR.

My last 2 trips I stayed at Pop, the other day I just made Ressies for Port Orleans French Quarter. it seems nicer, and quiter. I too wonder which one I will like better, but will have to stay at both to know for sure.
:rolleyes1

I've never stayed at POP but we love POR. There isn't anything negative I can say about our stay there, except one time over Spring Break we had to wait over 30 mins for the early bus to AK, which turned out to be a waste of time to go to EMH to anyway so I just consider that day a fluke. All other bus service was great. We used both pools and the kids loved that. We also love the boat to DTD and Bob Jackson the piano man who is tons of fun for the whole family.
