We had to change our vacation from July to December and I need some help please. Can anyone tell me what the weather is like at the end of December in Orlando (usually)? Also, how long do they leave up the Christmas decorations? I would really like to see that!

Thanks in advance!
Vicki

the decorations will start coming down the 2nd of January.

The weather in Dec is very unpredictable. I would pack a little of everything. 2 years ago it was high 80's during the last week of Dec. the week before it was in the 60's...

It is a great time to visit.

thanks for the info! i am really looking forward to it but i just found out that we will miss the christmas party. do they do something special for new years as well?

I am just wondering...are you going during the week between Xmas and New Years? If so, where are you staying and how many (what ages) are travelling with you? I am asking because that week is the BUSIEST week of the year at WDW. People may have many more suggestion for you if you are travelling at that time of year..you may even want to start a separate thread regarding this.

Weather can be very iffy. some days in the 70's or as "cold" as the 50's....If it rains, it's more the winter rain rather than the short summer cloud bursts....

Like the other person said, weather can be totally unpredictable the last week of December. We have worn shorts some years and other years, we have needed coats and gloves. Yes, gloves. We were there when the temperatures went into the 30s. The best thing to do is check the weather immediately before you go and still take some clothes that willl cover both spring and winter. It is more likely to have cooler temperatures that hot ones.

Christmastime is Disney's most crowded time. That said, it is a wonderful time of year. There is the Candlelight Processional at Epcot (the retelling of the Christmas story through words and music), the Osborne lights at the Studios, which aren't to be missed, the huge gingerbread houses in Epcot and at the Grand Floridan -- so big that people sell cookies and drinks out of them. Plus, the decorations at all the resorts are fun to just visit and look around.

We'll be there -- hope to see you. :)

We are going Dec. 29th - Jan.2nd. I am not sure yet where we will be staying. Just starting to plan now. I am thinking about getting Annual Passes so we can go back next summer as well. And any other time I can squeeze in!! :cool1:

Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks, Vicki

disney1990- thanks for all the information. do you always go during the holidays? i am very excited but worried too. i wanted to be able to go to the water parks and now i'm not so sure if we will get to. that is why i thought about the APs so we can go back during the summer!

Disney is wonderful in December. The weather as others have said is unpredictable. Layers is the key especially in the afternoon and evening. It can be 70 in the morning and 50 for Illuminations. Have a great trip.
