I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered before.

We are going to be in WDW for the 4th of July. I understand the parks will be crowded. Do the Resorts do anything special? Also as Dvc members are we able to resort hopp or is this considered "pool hopping" and not allowed?

Thanks for your patience and answers.

You can resort visit all you want and Pool hop at some of the DVCs if staying on points ( I think it's SAB and the WLV that you can't ever) but they do have the right of refusal if real busy.

We will be down during that time as well and will be spending some resort time but we are staying a BWV and AKV so that should be good

....and they throw one heck of a July 4 party by the pool/Turtle Crawl.

There's a "Pargo Parade" led by Goofy. Pool party, dancing, favors, limbo contest, hula hoop contest.

In Community Hall, you can meet goofy and have popcorn/snowcones.

I forget what else....

Thank you for the replies.

I am a DVC member, but pretty new (8-2007). Can we visit and participate in the community hall events if not staying at that resort.

To be clearer we are staying 1 night at OKW then switching to VWL from 7/2 on.

Thank you again.

I suggest going to Magic Kingdom and see the early Fireworks at around 9 pm and then catch a bus over to Saratoga Springs and head to the POOL Party at Saratoga Springs. Party runs from 9pm-12 midnight I think but must people arrive around 10 pm. You can check with member services to see if you need permission to attend, but I think they will be ok with it as long as you let them know you are a DVC member and satying on another DVC property. The Pool Party at SSR ends with Fireworks at DTD at Midnight and they literally fly over your head. This is something you won't get at any other pool party in Disney. They have a cash bar and lots of trivia and loud music and it's a real party. Just like the one on NYE. I would check and see if you could book at SSR since we are within 7 months now anyone can book and may I suggest you request a Congress Park DTD view if you change from VWL to SSR. It is a real good time!

Magic Kingdom also has a preview of 4th of July Firewroks on the 3rd as well. Another good place to view MK fireworks is from the banks of the Grand Floridian and you get to see the lights parade of boats afterwards.

Pool hopping is usually blacked out for members around holiday times. So I'd bet you cannot pool hop for July 4. If you want to go to the Polynesian to see the fireworks, you might have to show a resort ID to watch from the beach that night.

Hi Hersey!

Welcome to DVC! Not sure if I missed that you joined in 8/07

Deb&Bill is correct that pool hopping won't be allowed on July 4. But for the days before and after, just give the resort front desk a call of where you want to visit and they can let you know if it is ok to pool hop. I know in the summer BWV does periodically go around asking for KTTW cards, and of course there is no pool hopping at all to Stormalong Bay or AKV.

Since you will be at VWL you will be a short trip over to Fort Wilderness. I understand they offer some nice night time activities for the family such as movies and campfires. You may want to check that out.

And of course from OKW there is a boat to Downtown Disney where there is always lots to do.

Sounds like a fun trip!

CarolAnnC Thanks I was keeping the DVC on the downlow. I didn't want people thinking I was rolling in the dough :rotfl2: It just made a whole lot of sense for us and how I like to stay in the deluxes, I just drag the child to WDW for company.:rotfl:

Thank you all for the information :thumbsup2

July 4th is crazy and it's PARKING that they restrict most. Last year I was staying with my parents in Florida and we booked 'Ohana at Poly for dinner that evening. I had my ADR Number but the guard at the gate could not find my name. People say "We have reservations" but it is so crowded that evening they need to find your name on the special list or you do NOT get in... I INSISTED they keep looking because as I told her, I had booked 180 days out and I WAS going to eat at 'Ohana. She made a call and they found me...But they said in general that even resort guests won't be allowed to park there that evening so plan on taking WDW transporation.

Watching those fireworks from the Poly or GF beach is not to be believed. They go off all around the lake. Don't miss it! Also, we went to the MK one year on July 5th first thing in the morning and it was GREAT -- everyone else was recovering!
