Thanks in advance for all your help.

I am planning our honeymoon to Disney. We really like the idea of staying at either Old Key West or Boardwalk Villas. I guess my first question is which do you recommend? I am not trying to start world war three with that question. Just wanted some experienced opinions. We absolutely love Epcot so maybe Boardwalk would be better. But the quiet of OKW sounds appealing also. Does one cost more points than the other?

Second question- realistically, how soon do I need to rent points and have someone book this room. We want a one bedroom. The wedding will be sometime in February. Is there a difference in "seasons" like there are at the Disney resorts? I mean will it cost more points at different times of the year or is it just harder to get at different times?

I have millions of other questions but I guess that will get me started. Thanks again for all your help- you guys are the greatest!

yes the points vary with the season Feb falls in both high and low - low for the first of the month - high after President day (spring break starts)

have you looked at VWL - this is a very romantic place. also the new BCV might be nice too. I know just what you did not want more choices. But for a honeymoon I would go with VWL.

However OKW can be romantic, too. But for a good nightlife BWV - what are you looking for on your honeymoon - some time alone (OKW), party central (BWV), a little of both (VWL), or the best pool and eating places (okay my opinion but I really Cape May Cafe) (BCV).

OKW is the cheapest point wise to rent or own, then BWV, then VWL, then BCV. to rent VWL, BCV and the BWV preferred view are the same point wise.

We concur-- you need to think about what you want to do on your honeymoon.

If you want to dance and party, there's the Atlantic Dance and other nightlife on the Boardwalk. On the other hand, OKW has a boat to Downtown Disney, with all of that excitement!

If you're going to spend lots of time in the parks, you can't beat BWV for accessibility. Walk to Epcot and MGM, take the monorail from Epcot to MK and ride the bus back (or the other way around), it's very convenient. Assuming you have passes that allow park hopping, you might be wanting to have some romantic dinners in Epcot and will appreciate being close.

Either way, you can't go wrong staying on site at either location!

My vote is the new BCV!!!! We stayed at the BC 11 years ago on ouy honeymoon and loved it. Now with the the BCV you can get a 1 bedroom and live it up. The location is great and you will enjoy relaxing in SAB. I have just 1 warning. We have been back to "The World" 19 times in the last 11 years!!!!! Good luck!

If the choice is between OKW and BWV I would recommend BWV. A one bedroom will be very nice there, plenty of room, and things will be very close to travel to. Jellyrolls is a blast. Epcot is a great park to be close to for the evening and night hours. If your considering other options, you may want to consider the Grand Floridian. It is the top hotel on the property, in my opinion. You won't get a onebedroom, but that may not be important to you. A big question might be which parks you plan to spend most of your time in. On our honeymoon, we didn't spend too much time at the Magic Kindom, we were more interested in Epcot and MGM at the time. Now that we have kids, those priorities have shifted. But being in close proximity to those attractions and areas you think you'll be visiting can also be nice.

When you go, be sure to wear the mickey mouse ears for newlyweds. You'll be surprised at the generosity of DVC members and visitors. My brother and sister-in-law were invited out to a free illuminations cruise by someone who had two people cancel on them, because they saw thier "wedding ears." They had all kinds of perks and nice things done for them like that during thier WDW stay.

Of course this is personal preferance. ;)
It is my opinion that the Polynesian is the nicest hotel on the property, and I would stay there (if you are considering hotel options vs DVC).
I will always find points for a couple Poly nights every year! :)

If you like the chirping of crickets, then you'll love OKW:) :) :) ....

I vote for the Boardwalk!!! You can walk to either Epcot or MGM & the walk around the lake at night is really nice! If you want a peaceful location, ask for a room near the quiet pool (it's very quiet over there)... If you want a standard view, ask for a first floor view of the Tennis courts... The standard views are the same point requirements as OKW, although you need as much notice as you can get for those villa's....

We got married and stayed at the Grand Floridian. Having been to disney prior to our getting married, the Grand was a real let down in terms of service. It was lame compared to the DVC resorts. Don't get me wrong. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful, but it is very obvious that the service in every way was totally sub par to the DVC resorts.

A big item in choosing which resort you want to stay at is if you will be renting a car, or simply using disney transportation. We stayed at OKW with a rental car which is absolutely crucial in my opinion. At OKW you can park right outside the door. We go to OKW when we plan on visiting Universal on that particular trip. If we are only doing disney or hanging at the resorts and pools and a few Disney Park days, then the Boardwalk is our choice. No car is necessary, we just get Tiffany Town Car to drop us and pick us up at the BWV. Both OKW and BWV are amazing and great, and yes, romantic. Our big decision is made solely on if we want to go off site at all. For our honeymoon we stayed on site!

You must make a reservation at California Grill on top of the Contemp during the fireworks one night, they will tell you what time the fireworks are going when you call for the dining res. Also do the water sports at the contemp instead of a park day. We did the water mice and tubing on our wedding day and it was an absolute blast, very fun and yes, romantic!

Have fun!

Yes, OKW costs few points, has larger suites and is nice and quiet for those "long" evenings in your own Jacuzzi in the room! There is a nice path to the night life at Downtown Disney, and for moonlit strolls.

If you like lots of activity and more of a hotel atmosphere, you might prefer the nightlife of BWV.

BCV is very close to Epcot and is close enough to the Boardwalk to enjoy things there as well.

VWL is closest to MK, so might see more kids there. I haven't stayed there yet, so don't know for sure.

Congrats on your wedding! I have never stayed at OKW (although I've heard that it is very pretty and serene) but I can tell you that BWV is wonderful - especially if you like Epcot. I honeymooned at WDW in January 2001 and stayed at the GF. We had previously stayed at BW and boy did I wish that we had booked the h-moon there instead of GF. Don't get me wrong, GF is beautiful and romantic etc... but I love Epcot and nothing beat the proximity of BW (except BCV but that costs more points). BWV has so many fun options right outside the door - but I didn't find it to be to loud or unromantic. Quite the opposite, the architecture and lighting make for a lot of romance. You can walk to MGM too! WLV is very nice too - Feb is a good time of year to go there but if you are an Epcot-phile, go with BWV!! BCV has SAB and probably better proximity to Epcot (3 min vs. 5 min) but it costs a little more. It will probably be a little quieter than BWV but it doesn't open until July 1. We'll be going in July so I'll report to everyone what it's like . . . ANYWAY (sorry to be so long-winded), my disclaimer - you can't go wrong with any of the props but ya got my 2 cents. ENJOY!!

One bedroom accommodations and larger offer hot tubs in the master bedroom. It costs a few extra points but this is a honeymoon we're discussing.

Regardless of which DVC (I can't speak of BCV yet though), you'll have wonderful accommodations, even without daily maid service.

See, that's the one problem with DVC; how do I use those points NEXT??????

It is my opinion that the Polynesian is the nicest hotel on the property, and I would stay there (if you are considering hotel options vs DVC).
Ya know, this sounds like a great idea. I think we're going to have to give the poly a try. Thanks for the tip.
