Help please! So confused!

My family and I want to take another cruise in Feb 2018. We have a OBB placeholder set from our 2016 cruise. Anyways, we want to use DU for a TA this time. I sent them an email asking them to contact me as soon as Feb 2018 cruises were released. I received an email back this morning saying they wouldn't be contacting me until March/April because that is when the dates would be released. I thought early 2018 cruises were going to be released in the fall, like October timeframe. Help please! Thanks!!

Have you already transferred your placeholder to DU? That has to be done within 30 days of booking the placeholder or it can't be transferred.

No I wasn't told that . We just paid the $200 back in Feb and decided just in the past week when we wanted to take our next cruise. So then that's when I wanted to look into a travel agent. So you are saying I can't use a travel agent now since it has been 7 months since we paid our placeholder?

Yes, the placeholder is treated like a reservation and if you plan to use a travel agent, the reservation must be transferred to the travel agent within 30 days of booking it. You are out of luck with this placeholder, but if you book another one on your next cruise, make sure to contact the travel agent as soon as you get home.

In response to your other question about the timing of the release, no one knows for sure, but many people do expect dates for early 2018 to be released sometime in October.

Oh man that is such a bummer. Talk about a major rookie mistake. I have gotten 2 separate emails from travel agents saying the 2018 dates won't be released until next year. Weird!!

Typically the Spring and Summer dates for 2018 would be released in October and the Fall /Winter dates would be released in March/April. This past March, there were many threads about WHEN Fall and Winter 2017 would be released and it turned out they came out in April. lol

But wait... Typically it's the first HALF of the year that's released in October. OP is looking for Feb so yeah, that would be this October.

Well what the heck. Anyone else getting conflicting info?? I keep repeating myself to the Dreams Unlimited TA's and say I want a Feb 2018 cruise and that the dates usually come out in the fall. This is the response I get :

Disney’s releases them at different times. Last year it was in March. I’m expecting about the same timeframe for the 2018 as well. But not to worry, if they release them earlier, I’ll contact you as soon as they let us know.


Also, I was just told that you were advised to put a quote request in for 2017 and put on there that you want 2018. If you decide to do that, please put that you are working with me and I’ll get to our queue and pull your information.

There is no conflicting information because there is no actual information to conflict with. DCL does not have a set schedule for when they release itineraries, they just kind of release them when they are ready. Some TAs may have insiders feeding them some information but even that is not necessarily trustworthy.

Keep watching this board. When Gold/Platinum CC members are given the heads up they will be tripping over each other to announce it. Once booking opens for them it will be the most frantic thread on the board trying to get the itineraries posted and price quotes before it is opened to the general public. I have yet to see it live but the posts from last October are still buried in the archives:
