I'll be trying all 3 of these places for the first time in September.

I've been checking out the menus and they all look great, but at each one I can't see beyond the steak!

I don't want to eat steak at every place I go - so can people please recommended good dishes at the 3 restaurants?

Cheers!! :)

I have Jikos for tomorrow and Narcoossees for Wednesday. I have the same problem for a lot of my ressies in general. Although I have been told Narc's surf and turf is a not to be missed tasty affair. I too would love to hear what everyone's fave dishes at these places are.

I will interested in hearing this too. We are going to all 3 of these as well!:goodvibes

I have only eaten at CG and I can recommend the Spicy Sensation Sushi if you like sushi. It is delish! I had the steak last time, so I need some ideas for entrees too. But for dessert, the chocolate varlhola cake and butterscotch buzz were both just plain...YUM!

For Jiko I would recommend the following:

Maize-crusted and Seared Halibut - with Vegetables of the Moment, Tomato-Butter Sauce, I absolutely loved this dish!

For California Grill my recommendation is the pork tenderloin (Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Goat Cheese Polenta, Button Mushrooms and Zinfandel Glaze). In my opinion it was much better than the fillet there. And it is a true signature dish!

At both places we had flatbreads as appetizers and liked them a lot.

And the Banana Butterscotch Buzz is one of the best desserts I ever had!

The pork at the CG does sound amazing!

Thanks

ITA, yummy flatbreads. FWIW both the filet at Jiko and the Surf 'n Turf at Narcoosees are excellent, but since you want a non-steak suggestion, here goes. Looking at the most recent menus on AllEars, I'd recommend:
  • Jiko: either the Halibut, the spicy Scallops, or the Pork Tenderloin, even the chicken has a nice flavor. Only thing I have not liked–which others have loved–is the Lamb Shank, though current menu calls it Lamb Loin.
  • Narcoosees: Lobster, I enjoyed the crab-crusted flounder, friend enjoyed the tuna.
  • CaliGrill: pork tenderloin is good. If you like Sushi, give it a try. Also consider the Lamb or any of the fish dishes.
Enjoy whatever you try, just remember to save room for dessert.

A word of caution, the California Grill menu changes quickly, mostly because they are heavily influenced by what is in season. The filet and pork tenderloin are always on the menu though.

At the california grill I usually end up with a fish dish and I've never been disappointed. Friends have ordered the pork tenderloin and thought it was excellent. I've heard reports that the filet is good, but not quite as good as other steaks on property. I've never had it myself as there is usually something more interesting on the menu.

Good luck!

If you like lobster the lobster at Narcoossee's is fabulous. It comes already split open and ready to eat so not the usual lobster mess. I had the whole lobster and dh had the steak and lobster tail. We both agreed that the steak was fantastic but the whole lobster is way better than the lobster tail. The lobster tail was good, but the whole lobster was GREAT!!! The nut crusted cheesecake is a great dessert. I HIGHLY recommend Narcoosees. It is a smaller restaurant. The service is wonderful. It isn't quite as high in the activity level and it has beautiful views. I would go back in a split second. Have a great meal and vacation.

It was amazing! Actually, after having had the fillet the first time I was at CG I liked the place but was not overwhelm. Second time was such a better experience for two reasons: the pork tenderloin was one of the best restaurant dishes I ever had (but then I really like good pork) and we were seated in the Wine Room. Not much of a MK view, but such a great relaxed and calm atmosphere, and we want to be outside on the viewing platform for the fireworks anyway!

Actually I have pictures of the dishes I recommended:

Jiko - "dessert" it was an after dinner drink called Chocolate Covered Cherry

Hope this helps!

I think you all have talked me into the pork tenderloin at CG for my December trip - my mouth is already watering!

The food looks delicious.....but.....I want to know how to make the chocolate covered cherry....YUM!

Jiko:

Taste of Africa - Appetizer. PLENTY to share if you're not on a dining plan. Order just one if you are on a plan - two is too much for our party of 5

Chicken - Excellent

Fillet with Mac - Amazing

Narcoosee's:

Whole Maine Lobster - much tastier than the lobster tails in the surf and turf

Here's the question: At Narcoossee's, between the whole lobster and the surf and turf, which meal actually provides "more" food? It seems to me the whole lobster, even if it is from Maine, is the tail and claw meat - the rest is just shell. The surf and turf is probably a Caribbean tail and smaller, but you get the filet as well (and in some pictures I've even seen people get two filets - I can't quite figure out how they did that). So although I'm sure the whole is better than the surf, which is better quantity-wise?

I'm asking for my husband. And trust me, it matters.

Technically speaking, generally the surf and turf (while not as good) would be more filling than the whole Maine lobster. I say this only because I tend to find fish not as filling as red meat in general.

Jiko: Filet with Mac n' cheese, flatbreads, tanzanian choc. cheesecake
Cali Grill: Goat cheese ravioli, flatbreads, pork tenderloin or filet, vahlrona choc. and coffee dessert
Narcoossee's: Calamari or mussels appetizer, surf n' turf, almond crusted cheesecake.

I agree with that also. But man that whole lobster is wonderful. I don't remember coming away hungry at all...but we did have appitizer, meal and dessert. Actually, I remember coming away stuffed to the brim. I sure understand though....my dh would prefer the surf & turf for that very reason.
