HELP!! Owner will not get back with us...

If the owner is in FLorida, it may take several more days before he is able to reply, and that is assuming he hasn't lost his computer or cell phone to the storm.

That is what I am going to try to do, I guess. Everything is booked up (in our budget for a family of 5) during those dates :( I will just keep trying.

Don't forget off site for a backup reservation. And you can continue to check onsite.

Also, think out of the box. The Doubletree Suites on Hotel Blvd sleeps 5 and shares a free bus to the parks with the other Disney Springs hotels. The website Mousesavers.com has a special deal with the Holiday Inn Resort Orlando Suites Waterpark from $74 per night with free Waterpark fees and free parking. A 2 bedroom King Suite at the Holiday Inn is $505 with taxes for your dates if you take the special link from Mousesavers.

Since you're driving your car, all of the condos and timeshares open up for you. You can rent a 2-bedroom condo or timeshare for a full week for the same price as two nights in a Polynesian studio. I would look for a Saturday check in even though you won't be there until Sunday. The only downside with a condo/timeshare is that they are NOT refundable so you have to be 100% sure that's what you want to do.

I know it's off site and you'll pay for parking at the parks but your dining reservations and fast passes won't be changed. Offsite is really not bad at all and a lot of people gladly forgo the 24/7 Disney "magic" for more space and savings.

I would:

(1) Book a refundable reservation somewhere else. Offsite if need be. Make note of when you'll need to cancel.
(2) Review your condo/timeshare options. The Orlando board here is a good place to start.
(3) Continue to look elsewhere onsite if that's really where you want to be. I do have to tell you that there is only partial DVC availability for your crew of 5. There are currently two non-consecutive days in a 1 BR at Old Key West. That's it.
(3) Contact the DVC owner by phone and by email. Tell them that if they can't get back to you to discuss your reservation by a certain date that you will have to find other accommodations. Be prepared for them to drop you like a hot potato but you're been nice and patient and they appear to have your phone number on ignore.

Continued good luck to you! I hope everything turns out OK.

I would send another email and leave a VM stating that if you don't hear back by (date) you will have to make other vacation arrangements. He isn't in a storm area is he?

He isn't located in Florida, he is in Texas and in our last emails, voicemail, and text we stated that we hoped they were not effected but it's been since June that we have been trying to get in contact with him to get money to him. Both reservations are still on MDE so not sure what to think..

Well, Texas is a big state. Some areas were devastated, some were not affected at all. What part of Texas? Central Texas, San Antonio, Austin, Seguin, New Braunfels has downed trees and fences, but very little structural damage. Our gasoline availability is finally getting back to normal. Houston, Bay Town, Part Aransas, Port Arthur, Beaumont, Rockport...all had major damage, it will take some time to get everything back up and running normally.

Have you tried googling his name? You've got a name and address - a little web stalking may reveal some info.

We did look up and make sure he still has DVC in Florida, but that is all we could really find. Just upsetting because we have had never worried over the last several years. Just trying to be positive and think there is good reason for all this.

You don't have a contract, you didn't pay any money, send him notice and stay somewhere else.

The couple if times that something similar has been reported here it has ended up being some sort of tragedy or event in the owners life. In those cases I believe the reservations had been paid for however and there was concern because the owner wasn't responding about something else.

In your case you haven't paid so you have full control to find another option. If you hope to still use the reservation being held then at least make a backup you can cancel if you do hear from the owner. Otherwise just send them a note to cancel and move on permanently.

You don't have a contract or written agreement. The reservation may get cancelled the day you check in, he may own dues or payments and DVC hasn't cancelled yet, he may be ill, in the middle of a divorce, could be anything. Bottom line is if you use the reservation you can be charged any rate unless you have it in writing and it stands up in court. Not worth the risk IMO, reserve somewhere else, plan for the worse and hope for the best.

I'm not sure where the owner lives, but could he have been affected by the hurricane? Maybe he's displaced right now?
