We have enough credits to cover everything but one TS dinner. What is a good restaurant choice to pay OOP in MGM? Or should we switch and pay one of our other TS choices OOP (listed below)

Day 1 - arrival and lunch at OKW(1QS) , Yak and Yeti (1TSdinner)
Day 2- MK Cosmic Rays (1QS lunch) and Tony's Town Square (1TS dinner)
Day 3- Epcot Sunshine Season (1QS lunch) and Le Cellier (1TS dinner)
Day 4- MGM Char Breakfast (1TS),Pizza Planet (1QS lunch),dinner (OOP?)
Day 5- Wolfgang Puck Express (1QS lunch), Coral Reef (1TS dinner)
Day 6- Pecos Bill (1QS lunch), Chef Mickey Character (1TS dinner)

I'd do the MGM character breakfast OOP (I would think that is your cheapest meal - have you looked at prices?) and book Mama Melrose for dinner on the DDP.

I asked earlier about sharing a DDP TS and was told this was allowed - as long as it is not a fixed menu price (like a buffet or FDP) - both have to be on the DDP too. We're thinking DH and i will share a TS on our Coral Reef and LeCellier nights.

Something else to consider...

We do the DDP and with the amount of food available for breakfast, we end up not eating lunch, just snacking around one and then eat our CS around 5:30-6.

And we ALWAYS have snack tickets left, last year we had 13 left over and we ended up buying drinks and A LOT of Mickey bars for the plane.

I don't know how much your family eats, but the DDP offers too much food. Especially if you are looking at 3 big meals in one day. With the character breakfast you more than likely won't be hungry for Pizza Planet until 4 or 5 in the afternoon. If I were you, I would continue the schedule you have and play dinner by ear that day. :goodvibes

Hope I helped!

Thanks for the feedback.
Ilovefozzie, We are only doing the basic dining plan and all our breakfasts will be in our villa at OKW before we leave for the parks

Sorry I should have mentioned that

Kopmom, not a problem. We also use that same plan and our breakfast is something we grab at the Pop's restuarant as we are waiting for the bus. LOL

I would suggest looking at the menus. Last trip we ended up paying OOP for one of our breakfast character meals since we figured it was the cheapest.

Overall, breakfasts are usually never cost effective as a table service meal. I am in the middle of creating an analysis of all the DDP menus with respect to TS credits (that's a lot a menus  )

Here is what I have for you:
- Yak and Yeti - average entree cost $18.99 + average dessert cost $7.24 + NA drinks
- Tony's - average entree cost $21.99 + NA drinks (no desserts are listed, can that be right?)
- Le Cellier - average entree cost $24.10 + average dessert cost $6.07 +NA drinks (
- MGM Char Breakfast (at H&V) - $22.99
- Coral Reef - average entree cost $22.66 + average dessert cost $7.74 + NA drinks
- Chef Mickey's - $29.99

So from this view, if you are dessert eaters, pay from the MGM OOP (provided that Tony's actually has dessert). If you are not dessert eaters, pay for the Yak and Yeti OOP.

Enjoy!

Em&Bec'sDad...wow! Your posts are so cool, so helpful..thanks for taking the time to do all that math.

I have to agree with the breakfast as OOP. We are doing this in April as our breakfast at BOMA is only 16.99/person with drinks. Most entrees alone will run you at least $15/person not including drinks or dessert.

Good point - on our MGM day, we ended up only snacking in the park, because that was the only way we could do the shows we wanted to do. We shared a few big pretzels as well as ice cream, and that filled us up relatively well (as was quick!) (We left early because it was our date night, so ended up getting pizza at the food court for 2 CS, for the kids' dinners, with the credits we would've used at lunch, and dh and I went out for a real TS dinner) By that time of the trip, the kids were tired of sitting at restaurants, anyhow!

I wouldn't pay OOP early in the trip. Sometimes plans change, rain derails you, bellies are full, you're too tired, etc. You may not actually keep all of the ADRs thus not need to pay OOP for any.

We canceled a breakfast ADR (H&V) because we really didn't want another buffet meal and we preferred to stay "home" and enjoy our resort. We had paid OOP the day before for a breakfast, but we were "overbooked" 2TS. So paying OOP for one canceling the other we were back on track.
Keep in mind if you gamble and pick the wrong meal its a $5-6 penalty at most.
