OKay, finally decided that me and DH's Christmas pressie to each other is a new Car(okay well to me anyway!!!:D ).

Weve narrowed it down to 2, after some test drives today.

Now were really stuck, each car has its good and bad points, what one lacks the other makes up for and vice versa!!.

Okay were looking at

The New VW Beetle(bright Yellow!! DH' choice 1.4 engine)

Or

New Seat Leon 1.6 SX in bright Red

One we have to order from mexico, takes about 3/4 months, the other we can have in 2 weeks!

Trouble is ive gone round and round in circles and dont know which one to go for.

What do you lot reckon??.

Why not try out one of the discount car supermarkets. The prices are low and you get a fair choice. Delivery is immediate. I've bought two cars from Trade Sales in Slough (I know, long way from Norfolk) and found used models with higher prices elsewhere. Oh, and they weren't grey imports.

This site has some good reviews and also a section on breakdowns and faults for most cars.

I've driven a Leon 20VT Cupra - it was a bit on the quick side :)
and very nice to drive. Both the Leon and the Beetle are based round the VW Golf chassis.

I have always wanted a VW Beetle,
Don't know anything about them but just love 'em.
Although I like the new style, The old fashioned one's are the best so I would say THE BEETLE just for sentamentality(sp?)
( This has been of no use to you at all but I just had to reply!!)

Not a mechanical answer but do think seriously before buying a yellow car. My mum had one and it attracted insects. It was always covered in squashed flies even a few hours after washing it!

I am kind of putting my two cents in from the U.S. We bought a New Beetle in Feb, and we just love it. It does have a 2.0 engine though. We actually got it so our teen girls could learn to drive with it, but...........it's my car!!! My husband loves it too. He is a police accademy instructor and their driving instructor also. He prefers it to his police unit. The New Beetle is so much fun and handles beautifully. We will definately get another one if we ever wear this one out! Even though we got this car in Feb. we bought it used. It looks like new. Everyone thought it was a 2003 or 2004 model. It is a 2001. I really like the VW warrantee also. We still have powertrain warrantee up to 50,000 miles.
Good luck on your choice. I don't recognize any of your other choices. That's the American in me. Hehehe

Oh, by the way, our Beetle is black and looks really sharp!!

IMO i like the sound of both, I do love the look of the Beetle and yellow in my eyes is very unique, and gorgeus!! :)
I dont really know what a LEON is? lol but i do like the colour red! wow my post is really helpful if it was me (as if you need to know this) i'd go with the beetle! ;)

We've got a bright yellow car and it attracts the police like flies!

Seriously, Jules, don't worry too much about the colour. We had loads of people telling us not to buy a yellow car - apparently "dealers don't like them", but you've just got to go with what's right for you.

I think both your choices are sound - go with your heart. If it was me, I'd have the one I could get in two weeks. Patience has never been my strong point!

Thanks Guys, the winner is.......

The Leon!!!!

The beetle was winning hands down with me and DS, but it was kinnda one car you choose with your heart, the other you choose with your head!

Practicality wise the leon is better for us as a family, and with an 11 year old, starting to shoot up in height, there didnt seem much space in the back for leg room on the beetle

The beetle is definatelty gonna be my next car, DH promised!!!!.

So as a way of compensating, DH has bought me personal number plates for the Leon.

Should be here in about 12 days or so;)
