Hi

3 times we have stayed at Samoa and I love that location. However, we've usually booked through an agent and this time around we got a package through Disney directly with free dining plan.

I notice our reservation is for a Resort View Room. Can I request the Samoa building with this reservation? If not, does anyone have a similar building recommendation near both pools and the main building. We have 2 rooms for 14 nights so really want it to be right.

Thanks for any advice you can throw my way.

No. Samoa is only Water View rooms.

For an equivalent location Fiji has some Resort View rooms - but not a ton. And it would only be a request.

Thanks both, I thought as much. Looking at Rarotonga on the map, that looks like a good suggestion. I'm not bothered too much about the view, more the location. The room is for sleeping :-)

A few years ago Disney pretty much invented a “pool view” category entirely so they could charge people more to stay in Samoa given it was the #1 requested building for what was then called standard view. When Disney changed the view categories across the resorts a couple of years ago Samoa got lumped into the new Water View category due to that.

Rarotonga is imo the best resort view building bc as pp said it’s right next to the GCH and both pools but it’s also right by the bus stop and if you go out the back end of the building it puts you right on the path to the TTC for the Epcot monorail. Not even a 5 min walk.

Thanks so much all for the suggestions. I've just done the online check in and requested Rarotonga, High Floor. They are the only 2 options I could choose. My next question is, am I able to contact them for more specific requests? I'm wondering if I can ask for a view overlooking the resort and not the parking lot. I'm guessing that if I get a high floor parking lot view then I also get to see the monorail whooooshing by? Am I correct with that? I don't think i'll be disappointed by any view though to be honest, we would spend mere minutes on the balcony on a daily basis so it's no biggie. My other request would be for a deep clean for one of our 2 rooms as my eldest son has pretty bad allergies and once we had issues with a very dusty Samoa room (I think refurbs were going on at the time). I've previously only ever booked the Poly through an agent and she took care of all this the last time around.

Thanks again for any info you Poly experts can throw my way.

From what I understand, if you select requests doing online check-in those override any other requests regardless of how you send them in. Best practice if those don't fit your prefect request is to leave it blank and call or use a service like Touring Plans to put a more specific request in. (Though the more specific you make it, the harder it is for them to meet. And regardless of how you make the request, sometimes they still can't meet it.)
