HELP - Neighbor's wind chimes are driving me crazy!

All these things that everyone is suggesting is illegal and you can get arrested for doing anything to the windchimes. It is called vandalism. I would be really PO'ed if anyone touched the windchimes I ahve outside. I don't touch my neighbors birdfeeders that are right outside my window and leave poop all over my yard but are thankfully far enough away from my cars. talk to her again but after that there is nothing you can do. It is HER yard!

ITA...I'm quite shocked at most of these suggestions!

The OP , from the post above, seems to have a good handle on this. Definetly offer to help re-located the chimes closer to her house. :)

And - sorry - count me in as one who LIKES the sound of wind chimes...my IL's have some on their back deck, and the sound is rather relaxing.

I would take a different approach. Since she appears to be agreeable, I would ask if she needs help in getting them down and relocating them closer to her house. :flower:

That's exactly what I was thinking when I was rereading this thread. We have neighbor problems with one of our neighbors that started the day we moved in. I really think that he has mental problems and we've started having problems again with him. If a person can avoid trouble and the neighbors seem to agree to move the chimes, maybe there's other issues. Try again and offer to move them for them and see what happens.

I do not like your friend's idea. Somehow I think that money is not the issue and you might insult her with that idea or she'll think that you're a little strange. :teeth: If I were going to do something along that same train of thought, I would jokingly tell her that I'll bake her cookies (or whatever you come up with) if she moves them. Say it in a joking way and then of course follow through on that. Might lighten up the situation.

Good points!! Thank you.

I think that's a great idea. I wondered if they were on a "honey do" list and hadn't gotten done.

This is what I was thinking. Perhaps you could write her a note? That way she'd have it written down and would remember to do it. There are tons of things I have forgetton to do, even tho it would seem like I should remember.

:goodvibes

I like the motion detector idea, though i'm not sure it'd work too well in practice.

If it were me, i'd probably find a way for those wind chime to disappear.... or take them down and leave them in her mailbox or something.

I would hope that you would realize that when I post something followed with a :teeth: and ;) that it is nothing more than a joke. Do you seriously think I would advise someone to do that?

I thought most were in jest.

FTR I like my windchimes and if anyone touches them--they'll wish they hadn't. :hyper:

The people on the transportation board are an evil lot! Discussing rental cars, DME, what time the busses run... can't trust any of them! :rotfl: Bad influence I say!

I can't believe it (or maybe I missed it), but nobody on this thread commented about "chiming in" with their opinion. :rotfl2:

Well, after reading this thread I supppose I am annoying the neighbors with my wind chimes!! :rotfl2:

Note to neighbors: Sorry! Oh, and they are staying up! Have a great day! :teeth:

You admit that a sound coming from your property may be annoying your neighbors and then say that annoying sound is staying. That is selfish and inconsiderate.

I like wind chimes, but only the little, tiny ones. To me they sound like fairies :)

I like wind chimes myself but my MIL said in their country that is the sound prisoners hear. I imagine you must feel like those prisoners.

I would knock them off the tree during the next blustery day.

Wow! What a thread bump!

My mother has wind chimes and I don't mind them so much during the day but they drive me insane at night. I have gone outside and taken them down before when we were trying to sleep.

ok, others are posting to a dead post...

I'll add I LOVE windchimes. I have over 40 I have on my front porch.
although we are out in the country & my nearest neighbor is acres away.

grew up with them! especially those glass ones from the 50's, which you can't find anymore.

after a while you really cannot hear them... pity, I love the sound & have to really focus in on them.

Oh my! I was sitting here reading your post thinking you were one of my neighbour's writing about my other neighbour with the windchimes that never shut-up. If you had been from Canada I would have fallen out of my chair... :rotfl2:

What I don't understand is how it doesn't seem to bother the person with all the chimes?

Probably bad hearing? :rotfl2:
