help needed with Japan restaurants

Teppan Edo is the old Temppanyaki where you sit at a big table (with others) and the chef cooks the meal in front of you. Tokyo Dining is next door and you sit at smaller tables (your group alone) and you order sushi or tempura and they bring it out to you. Both are TS restaurants.

At Teppan Edo you will be sharing a table with others, but the food is very good. I believe the table is set up for like 6-7 people, but when we were there our three adults sat with a family that included mom, dad, GM, GF, and two school age kids. We were very crowded. In fact our party of three was literally squeezed onto the very end of the table. The other family's little girl sat on GM's lap throughout the meal. She was about 7 y/o. As we were seated you could tell the hostess was a little agitated at the other family. After the meal we found out what happened. As we were all walking out, we said something about the 'close quarters' and the older lady in the other family told us that she had tried to make ADRs just that morning for their family of six, but it was unavailable, so she called back and made it for four people (did not count the kids) and assumed they would just seat them at a table by themselves. Obviously it didn't happen and all nine of us got squeezed into one table. That table was VERY crowded that night.

You will probably share with a group of 2. The tables are set up for 8 people. We sat with a family of 3 over Christmas when we were there. It wasn't a problem at all.

I agree- unless you are eating at a totally odd off time, you will most likely be sharing a table to fill up all the seats. Now, if you don't have your heart set on eating hibachi style, you can eat at Tokyo Dining. I thought it was wodnerful. The sushi was really fresh, they had some great tempura dishes, my kids like the tterriyaki kids meals. The service was very polite and really nice. You also get your own table.
