This is only our second time flying, so I really know NOTHING about what I need to do to handle this:

I booked our flight Tues. for our Dec. trip, through Travelocity. It's nonstop on Delta from Moline, IL - a very small airport. We really wanted nonstop because my parents have health issues.

For some reason I decided to check on my flight info today & I see that it's already been changed to another flight that has a stop in Atlanta. If we had to have a stop, I would never have chosen Atlanta.

Is there anything I can do, or are we stuck with this flight?

I would call and ask...could be they discontinued the nonstop flight or something. It's still early. I'm sure if they understand why you wanted the nonstop, they will accomodate you if one is offered. But if they don't offer it anymore, perhaps they can change you to a flight with a different stopover. Since Atlanta is the main Delta hub, though, who knows. Just make sure that if you do have to stop, there is enough time to get from one flight to another, esp. with your parents' issues. I hate it when I get off one flight in terminal A and have 20 minutes to get to terminal D or something.

We had a situation last week with Delta (who seem to be changing flight times and schedules daily!).
We booked on Travelocity to go from Buffalo to Las Vegas via Cinncinnati.
I received an email saying that I had to call the Travelocity Call Centre . They then told me that my flight was cancelled and they would arrange for an alternative. The alternative was unacceptable because we only have a very short stay in Vegas. I then suggested that (after looking at the Delta schedules)can I get seats on the the flight going via Atlanta (same departure time and shorter layover arriving in good time in Vegas). They said no because I had to book a flight going via the same route. This is of course ridiculous because the fact is they were the ones to cancel the flight so by me suggesting to go via Atlanta instead of Cinncinnati is totally reasonable.
I then called back and asked for a supervisor. After 15 mins on hold I finally spoke to one. He was very accomodating and said it would be no problem.
I realize that this situation is a little bit different from yours ,but my point is....You can make and suggest changes because they were the ones to changed the flight schedule....not you. Talk to a supervisor and I'm sure they will help.(check the schedules online on Deltas website so that you have all of the flight times and flight numbers at hand to suggest to the supervisor. You can also go a step further by seeing if there are seats still available so that you know they cannot come back with an excuse of having no seats) Good luck.

Well, I'm looking at the flights scheduled, and Atlanta is the only layover Delta offers us. They did book us on the flight with the longest layover - 2 hrs.

Delta just recently started offering daily nonstop to Orlando from our airport, that's why I went ahead & booked. Now that daily flight has been pulled.

My new question:
For our return flight, it still lists the nonstop, but that flight no longer exists. Will they put us on a flight, or are they waiting for me to contact them?

I also had a situation where we booked a flight several months in advance. The airline rebooked us and I happened to notice it. I phoned that particular airline and they were very accomodating in adjusting our reservation ... it wasn't as good as the one we originally started with but was better than what they had rescheduled me on.

Call them.

If your parents have health issues and a stop-over is necessary, ask if they can have transport waiting at the arrival gate to take your parents to the next gate.

Go to the Delta website see if there are better flights than the ones you're now booked on for the days you're traveling. If so, call Travelocity and ask if you can be changed to those flights DUE TO THE CHANGE THAT'S ALREADY BEEN MADE. That said, there doesn't appear to be anything direct from Moline and frankly I'd be astonished if a direct flight from there to Orlando was offered again in the future - can't imagine there's enough demand to do that. Could your original booking have been for a stop in Atlanta but the flight continues on to Orlando? Keep in mind that Delta's flight schedule for December is really only a projection right now (the down side to booking flights early) so the chance of a change happening again in the future is very high. Since you'll probably be dealing with a plane change for your parents (in Atlanta or elsewhere) the airline can give you some assistance there - wheelchairs, etc. Don't hesitate to ask for that and have the needs noted on your reservation and reinforce that when you check in for your flights.
Have a good trip!

In our particular case, the return did'nt change (only the outbound).
When you say that "it still lists the non stop", are you talking about on the Delta website? As to whether they will contact you....I was lucky to receive an email but others have said that they happened to see the change by logging into their booking itinerary. It does no harm to contact them....as opposed to waiting.

Travelocity still lists our return flight as being a nonstop, but Delta no longer shows that flight. All their other nonstops to our airport are gone, so that one has to be too. Maybe they just haven't gotten around to rescheduling that one yet.

I did check to see what else Delta's offering, and I guess what they gave us would be the best choice. I will still call them.

The flight we booked was for $202 - this new flight is currently going for $587!

First, thank you for all the replies. :)

My new question - Is there a time limit if we want to change to a different flight?

I haven't called Delta yet because I watched the flights changing so much yesterday. I don't have official notice that the new flight has changed again, but from what I see that same flight now has a 3 hour layover in Atlanta, then goes to Miami w/ a 2 1/2 hour layover before going to Orlando. I had decided that we could manage with the first change, but if this is going to be the change, I'll have to get a different flight.

I'd like to wait awhile & see what happens with the flight schedule before changing anything. Is that allowed, or will I end up paying a penalty if I don't make a change now?
