I have a question about traveling around WDW when staying off property. I have looked at a few hotels off site and it looks like traveling via taxi is the way to go however, at $20. a pop x 2 taxi's (needed for 6) that number for the week goes up quite a bit.

I know that if you stay near the DTD area you can get anywhere via a bus ride but that may be long days and nights waiting for buses plus the taxi ride just to get to the DTD area.

I am thinking that using my timeshare for a week there is maybe not such a good idea and maybe the better choice is just to stay on property.

What do you guys think and how have you folks done travel wise staying off site?

Thanks so much for the help in advance.

Keep in mind too that the DTD busses (I'm talking disney busses, not orlando transit busses) don't go to the parks either. So you would have to get to DTD, then take a bus to a resort, then to a park. Very time consuming.

How many days are you going? If you are definetly staying off site maybe it would be less expensive, and much quicker to just rent an SUV or miniVan?

Or, maybe stay onsite at two rooms in a Value resort or the ASMusic Suites? Not sure what your accommodations budget is.

Im staying at a hotel this July... that is off property... that is a friendly neighboor hotel and offers free shuttle to and ffrom the parks (on a schedule), to Seaworld and Universial... hope it works get... the only thing is you are limited to their schedule... but it is complimentary... so NO COST

Disney also charges for parking at the parks to check into staying on property Disney has some good promotions going on right now

I don't know who your timeshare is through, but if you have RCI Bonnet Creek offers complementary transportation. otherwise I would suggest renting a car.

Thanks to all that chimed in. We will be in the World for a total of 15 days. I was trying to cut a bit of the cost by lodging a week with the timeshare.
With all of the comments, I think the best thing is to go with the majority of the stay at the Pop. We have stayed there before and found it quite nice for a value.

Again, thanks to all.
