We are upgrading to AKL because of the Disney Visa codes. Is a pool veiw worth it for the 2 nights we will be there? Will we be dissappointed if we don't get the pool veiw and go with the standard? I'm leaning towards standard veiw in order to save $21 a night. What do you think??!!

We had standard view on our trip last May. It wasn't bad at all. We were in Ostrich Trail and although that is the opposite side from the pool and restaurants it didn't seem far. Walking through AKL is a treat in itself. The pool is beautiful though. Next trip we are booking pool view but we will be there for a week. I think for just two nights you would be fine going with standard view.

I've switched from POR to AKL for 7 nights with only a standard view. What are some of those views? Is it a parking lot full of cars or at least some nice landscape?
I really just need a bunk bed for my DD. They told me they couldn't guarantee it but would out it down as our request. Thanks, YO

I would book the standard view. A few rooms have a view of the parking lot, but most just view some foliage. The pool is really nice, but I would think it could get noisy staying near there. I would book standard and save the money for the two nights and treat yourself to a nice dinner. Also, there is always the chance of a free upgrade:D If you would be there longer than just two stays, I would probably say go for the pool view.

I've stayed in all views. My 2 cents...the pool view is worth the $. It puts you more into the 'action' without adding any distracting noise(while inside the room). I've experienced free upgrades 2x's and no upgrade 3x's. So the 'expected' free upgrade from a standard room is not as available as I found it to be a year ago.

My standard room had a view of the parking lot but was on the 5th floor so the balcony was a closed wall and you could not see anything without standing on your toes.

Whatever you decide you will LOVE the resort! Sooooo much to do and SEE!!!!

Also...I highly recommend Boma...kids really love it!!!

I upgraded to a pool view for only that reason.....I was afraid they were going to have me look at a wall, it wasn't that much for the upgrade and IMO, after having a bad exp. at the last deluxe I stayed at, I wanted to secure at least a good room. Everyone I've encountered so far has loved their poolviews, so we'll see.:)

I think for the $20 per night the pool view is worth it. That is what we booked for our next trip.;)

We booked standard and were lucky enough to be upgraded to pool view. We loved it! The view was so relaxing. I loved listening to the AKL music, seeing the pool waters and all the lush landscaping. After our DD was in bed at night DH and I often spent time out there sipping wine, talking and enjoying the beautiful view. Next time we go to AKL I will probably reserve pool view.

MinnieGi, you have totally sold me on pool view. We were going for it anyway but your post really makes it sound more wonderful than we imagined. Can't wait.

For $21 a night, for 2 nights, I would DEFINTELY upgrade to Pool View. It's a VERY appealing view, rather than a ho-hum kind of view.

Upgrade to pool view - We stayed AKL in July 2003 - Our first night we had pool view and not noisey at all for sleeping (with doors closed) - Some of the standards view the pool from an angle but I wouldn't take the chance - The resort is AMAZING! Do it up you only live once - Enjoy!

I'll tell you what -

I had a pool view. I was right under Mara's, and for an extra $21 a night I would get that room again in a heart beat!
It is lovely looking out at the pool at night. If you are a day dreamer and person who loves to reflect as I , then the pool view would be right for you!

If you do not care about going out on the terrace and looking out, then don't worry about it.
:)

What ever you decide, have a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it is too much of a risk to hope for an upgrade during the last week of May, right? DH loves balconies and loves to relax out there. I think everyone convinced me to go for the pool view! Thanks!
